Fantasy series. Hero was raised to be a hero but doesn’t have any memory and should be evil but is good

The book(s) revolves around the protagonist who is amazing at everything and grows as a person. It turns out his upbringing was weird as he was cursed with spells and was killed and revived every time. His body has spells around it but when people see through the spells, his body is scarred.
Throughout the series he wins a big sword tournament, stays loyal to friends and grows as a person. He eventually goes to some secret island.

Can you tell us anything about the general setting (or any specifics you might remember)?

I don’t remember when I read the book but I remember certain aspects of the story. But vaguely.

In no particular order
1. The protagonist enters an elite sword tournament at the highest level and I believe wins
2. At some point the protagonist needs the help of an assassin’s guild and runs the gauntlet through to meet with the head person
3. Late in the story the magic around the protagonist is briefly lifted and other characters see that he has curses all over his body. We also find out in his training that he died and redirected many times.
4. There is story about a magic swordsman named “???” The protagonist finally figures out that it’s his name spelled backwards
