Since our current series is a duology , we will be wrapping it up next month. That means it’s time to open nominations for our next series, which will start April 1, 2024. What would you like to read and discuss with the group? Nominations are now open!

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Rules for nominating a series:
1. The series must be complete (as far as we can reasonably tell).
2. The series must be fantasy (I know, seems obvious).
3. The series should not be targeted mainly for middle school or a YA audience.
4. The series must not be one the group has already read. Look through the list of discussions or the group bookshelf to see if we’ve read it before.
5. Each member may nominate one series. Please tell us the name of the series, the author, how many books are in the series, and the name of first book in the series. If you want to add more information, please feel free.
6. Nominations do not need a second to move into the polling as long as they meet the other guidelines.
8. Nominations will be open through February 17. We will then have a poll. If there are a lot of nominations or the results are close, we will also have a run-off poll between or among the top vote-getters.

Please post nominations in this topic thread here on the group page, not by responding to the broadcast message sent to your Goodreads inbox.

Nominations are open! Let’s go!

Tash (thero159) | 10 comments I would like to nominate The Greatcoats series by Sebastien de Castell. It is a four book series which starts with Traitor's Blade.
A lot of people describe it as the Three Musketeers in a high fantasy setting.

Júlia (juliadobrilovich) "sands of arawiya", or "the prison healer"!

MangoLoverReads | 1 comments I didn’t find the Bookshelf…but I didn’t see The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K.Jemisin. 3 books. First one is ‘The Fifth Season’

Excellent series! The group read this in early 2022, so this series is not eligible (see Rule 4). Please feel free to nominate something else.

To find the bookshelf, look at the top right of this page. Under our group’s name is a list of links: Group Home, Bookshelf, etc. On the bookshelf page, the list of all the series we have read is on the left side.

Each member can nominate one series. (See rule #5 above)
Please decide which one you’d like to nominate. It is helpful if you include the author’s name, how many books in the series, and the title of the first book. Thanks!

Ryan, when I look at the shelving for this series, it appears to be primarily aimed at a middle grade level or YA, which would be contrary to rule #3. I have not read it… would you say it is aimed at that age level, or is it more YA to Adult level?

Since I didn’t hear back from you, I decided to disallow this nomination as being primarily aimed at a middle grade/YA audience.

It was a very close vote, but our next series will be Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab. The schedule will be:

April 1, 2024: A Darker Shade of Magic
May 1, 2024: A Gathering of Shadows
June 1, 2024: A Conjuring of Light

Thanks to everyone who voted. Please keep the other nominated series in mind for next time!
