Janice (jamasc) | 60153 comments I finished my second book, The Strangers. It has such high ratings, and yet I found it to be just okay, so I gave it 3 stars.

I think I have to watch literary fiction, because there's a lot that doesn't appeal to me and it's frustrating to get a book based on the high ratings, only to find it kind of a snoozefest.

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments That’s disappointing Janice. I find that with some books as well. I have read a few that were formulaic and repetitive and even though they had high ratings, they were really predictable without a solid grounding in the characters.

I was in the spreadsheet so I went ahead an entered the points for you.

That is frustrating when you are expecting a book to be really good and it is just okay .

Ammee Radebaugh | 130 comments I finished another book and will add the link when i am at my computer. I also found a book with museum in the title and also one about dogs. I believe i can read them both tomorrow. However Grainne if you find out your museum option will work and want to read it I am fine with not reading for that one.

Nistha | 1017 comments I finished my second book Leonard and Hungry Paul. I quite liked it - there was nothing extraordinary happening in the book but the story seemed very grounded and the characters were quite different.

I have started to read Notes on an Execution which has a fox on the cover (I guess we can repeat tasks) - let's see if I can finish before toppler.

I get you on this Janice. It is like sometimes I just want to think if I read the same book as others!

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments Hi all, I finished The Ranch and it was a sweet novel. I am just seeing your message now @Ammee so if you have already read for museum just drop a message. In the meantime, I am going to read Homegoingwhere the characters visit a museum. I hope I am getting that right for the prompt. As I say, it’s fine by me if you’ve already completed that task. I am hopeful of finishing Homegoing before the Toppler ends.

Marnie (marnie19) | 3289 comments Hey Team

We have 350 points ( so far) and have received bonus points for Beach, Ranch and Ski vacations. Incredible team effort!!

I have completed all my reads but since there is still a day to go… I’m going to start Lady Macbeth. If I finish it ( which is unlikely ) it’s an extra 10 points but won’t hurt the group if I don’t.

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments Good morning team

I woke up early to read, just having breakfast now and then I am going to read for the morning. That's an impressive score! Be sure to keep us posted on where you're at. Let's see if we can find some jiggle room for bonus points!

message 110: by Ammee (new)

Ammee Radebaugh | 130 comments So random question but do the type of topples rotate. So, since we did a team on this time that the next will be a 24 hour individual?

message 111: by Grainne (new)

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments It could be another team toppler but the next one will probably be a 24-hour toppler. There are times when they repeat though so keep an eye out in about 2 months. There’s usually one big group discussion about book choices, reasons for reading, and the like when it’s the individual toppler.

message 112: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3289 comments It does rotate

Next one in two months will be a 24 hour individual one

Then a team one but… sometimes the team one is all one team working on a common goal. Kristie mixes them up.

PS- Ammee I’m about to record your 15th book!!! Amazing

message 113: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60153 comments I just added the points for my last read, and that gave us 10 points for bonus for mountain. I won't get another book finished, so that's it for me.

Ammee, 15 books is amazing! Great job. Yes, the toppler alternate between a one day individual and one week team.

message 114: by Ammee (new)

Ammee Radebaugh | 130 comments Awesome. Honestly after this week I may need to take a bit of a break. Luckily I work from home as an accountant and am able to search for items and listen to audiobooks at the same time.

I have added more lines to the bottom of the spreadsheet to record the additional books that people may finish up.

I finished Meet at the Museum so we were able to get the bonus points for City

message 115: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60153 comments I work from home, too, but as a bookkeeper. I can't work and listen at the same time. This week I had timesheets and payroll to do.

message 116: by Grainne (new)

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments Reading 15 books in one week is very impressive, Ammee! I have to say that was a lot of fun and productive to boot. I love the rabbit holes that some of these topplers take me down, but my reading list grew instead of shrinking?! I am not sure how that happened!

message 117: by Ammee (new)

Ammee Radebaugh | 130 comments I was able to read one more book so I read the house uptown so we can finish lake house and get both those bonus points and the bonus points for doing all the tasks. I added in the books to the bottom that people said they might finished and put the formula in the spreadsheet for them to count.

I have appointments in the morning so I won't have a chance to read tomorrow but I am excited and feel that everyone has done an amazing job!!!

Also my want to read list also grew but I read some interesting books I may not have read otherwise. So I had a great time!!!

message 118: by Grainne (new)

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments I finished Homegoing too within the allotted Toppler time but when I came to report it, I realized that it had already been completed. Thank you Ammee! Unfortunately, one team can't technically add additional tasks; we have to request them from Kristie because all additional tasks have to be open to all teams to complete within the timed toppler. That would have had to have been done a day or two before the toppler ended. It has been done before in topplers I have participated in and been part of.

message 119: by Ammee (new)

Ammee Radebaugh | 130 comments In the rules it says you can repeat tasks. So i would still report it.

Some teams have multiple completed books for the same task and one team repeated most of the tasks twice.

message 120: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3289 comments I’m going to be out for most of the day but our reporting thread is caught up for now.

I enjoyed being teammates with all of you and finding new books to add. Hope your next book is your best book :)

message 121: by Nistha (new)

Nistha | 1017 comments I just finished Notes on an Execution - I will report it in case repeating tasks are allowed.

I had a lot of fun playing even though it was a busy week for me! All of you guys are amazing :)

message 122: by Ammee (new)

Ammee Radebaugh | 130 comments Below are the scoring rules

Scoring Rules:
👉🏻You do not need to complete all of the locations.
👉🏻Tasks may be repeated, but bonus points are only awarded if all the tasks for a location are completed.
👉🏻Bonus points are awarded each time a location is completed. Each location may be repeated without completing the others.

So if repeated tasks count. So if you finished one before the time period was up we should be able to record them for points

message 123: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60153 comments Yes, more that one team member may read for the same task. Each read is worth 10 points.

message 124: by Grainne (new)

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments Great reading with all of you! I hope you enjoyed the toppler as much as I did. It's shellebration time! I love our team name. It's so cute.

message 125: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60153 comments Great job, ladies! I hope everyone had a great time and managed to topple some books off their TBR.
