Kathryn | 259 comments Hi everyone!

I’m currently listening to The Sea of Tranquility and reading The Other Boleyn Girl and The Demons We See. I’ll try to make more progress on these before Saturday so I can finish quickly. The Other Boleyn Girl is 660 pages and I’m only on page 200 so I have a long way to go!

My next planned books are The Witch's Heart, Patsy, Legends & Lattes, and The Art of Racing in the Rain.

Happy reading everyone!

I didn't know that, the GR app is the worst.

Hi everyone, excited for this week! The Mardi Gras theme is a great one and I have fond memories of going to Mardi Gras the year after I graduated college. So much fun and something I have no desire to repeat lol.

I will be relatively quiet the first few days, I am hosting a Galentine's shin dig tomorrow night so I'll get lots of audio time in while cleaning and prepping, and will be at a Super Bowl party Sunday so not much reading that day. Monday night I have a volunteer meeting. After that I'm wide open with lots of time to read!

Emma R. | 79 comments Hi team,

I'm looking forward to reading this week. I'm working my way through the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so my focus will be on those books. The books are long and fit a number of prompts.

Erica | 366 comments Hey team. I entered the six books I’m wanting to finish this readathon in the planning sheet. I have a bunch of comics and graphic novels that are too short for prompts to get through and I’ll try to add in some audio time as well. I haven’t been reading the last few weeks so I’m looking forward to getting through my stack of library books.

Nancy who you cheering for?

message 8: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments Eh. I'm really going for the food and company lol. 49ers, I guess? I like Christian McCaffery (he got me 2nd place in my fantasy league) and I'm sick of the Chiefs.

I really wanted a Lions-Ravens SB, so.

message 9: by Erica (new)

Erica | 366 comments Yeah I was sad the Lions couldn't do it, but yeah I'm one of those cheering for the Chiefs. Really I want a good football game.

message 10: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Hi team! Excited for another readathon!

I'm almost done and have 100+ pages left in Fourth Wing and will pick my next book today!

Has it lived up to the hype for you?

message 12: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I'm a late add to the group, and can help out keeping the spreadsheet.

I have a few books on tap, but have no idea what prompts they fit! I'm bummed that the week AFTER the readathon I have a week off work... Oh well! I hope to be able to finish 2 books, but will be lucky to go beyond that.
Blackouts and The Bee Sting, both are also Tournament of Books entries.

Depends on what you mean by "lived up to". Is it good? No. Am I hooked? Yes.

message 14: by blackpearl (new)

blackpearl (blackpearl_satorni) | 5 comments I just made it to the middle of the book... and I agree it's okay, nothing that I would go raving about. I'm locked in though...

message 15: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2954 comments I finished my first book this morning unfortunately it will only count for an hour of audio.

Chrissy, I’m curious on your thoughts for The Bee Sting. I got to skip the line on the ebook, but will wait until next week to start it. I didn’t realize how long it is.

message 16: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments I left 100 minutes in One Day and finished that so put it in A book where someone goes to a hotel.

Jillian | 2954 comments Erica, would mind adding this to your post:

I didn't see it in the first post and had to find it on the team FAQ page and this post will probably get lost.

Done.

message 20: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I’m just curious for a second opinion: Does the following cover look pink?
The Demons We See (The Dark Abyss of Our Sins, #1) by Krista D. Ball

I will finish either today or tomorrow, depending on how much time my son (4 years old) lets me have!

On another note, my long library hold for Fourth Wing went through, so I might also be reading that one also!

That definitely fits for having pink on the cover.

I read several hundred pages of it today, and got sucked in. I think I’m about half way?

message 24: by Allie (new)

Allie | 44 comments Hello Team! I was just added, and I couldn't be more excited. I have 7 books I'm trying to finish before they are supposed to go back to the library. That includes The Book Of Magic Omnibus, which is over 1500 pages.
As for the Superb Owl (Super Bowl) I mostly watch for the commercials, as my favorite team, the Washington Sententials is again, not in the running. (It's the team from the movie The Replacements)

message 25: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I finished The Demons We See and added it to pink cover. The heroine hosted a ball so we can move it into that category if needed.

The Other Boleyn Girl is long but it’s going by quickly. I’m hoping to finish that one next!

message 26: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2954 comments Chrissy, that is great to hear.

Welcome, Allie!

message 27: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments Does someone keep resizing the columns on the Pendant tracking tab on purpose? Just curious.

I DNF'd my Kindle book but counted the pages. And switching to A God in Ruins on Kindle as I'm having trouble focusing on the audio.

message 28: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2954 comments Nancy, I have no idea about resizing of the pendant tab. I have not paid attention to it other than adding my stuff.

I hope your new book can keep your focus.

I didn’t sleep well last night so I’m pretty tired but I finished my audio book and already have 4 audio hours completed.

I’m watching my mom’s dog this afternoon and he just likes to sit and be held so hopefully I can stay awake and make progress on my print books.

message 29: by Nancy (last edited Feb 11, 2024 10:35AM) (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments Yeah, twice now I've opened that tab to see the columns squished. I have fixed it, but now I'm wondering if there's a reason someone is doing it - I thought the first time might have been done by accident.

So I was listening to A God in Ruins, and now I'm reading on the Kindle. Same book, different format. And I'm starting Concrete Rose today but won't get much listening time as my friend's Super Bowl party starts early if you want to play blackjack and my son wants to go over early.

message 30: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments Nancy wrote: "Does someone keep resizing the columns on the Pendant tracking tab on purpose? Just curious ..."

Yes, I’d like it to fit on the page so I can see the totals, and there’s no reason I can think of that the columns need to be so wide!

message 31: by Erica (new)

Erica | 366 comments I didn’t change the sizing but when things aren’t as wide I can see more on my phone.

Do you use your phone to look at them? On a regular monitor the default spacing is much easier to read for me.

The size they are now works for me though, it's when they're sized to fit and really squished that I have trouble seeing it.

message 33: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Well I stayed up late reading Fourth Wing so I guess that answers if I liked it or not 🤣

Next up to finish A Court of Thorns and Roses

message 34: by Allie (last edited Feb 11, 2024 06:36PM) (new)

Allie | 44 comments Just so I don't mess up the sheet, how are we highlighting/ coloring them green?

message 35: by Chrissy (last edited Feb 11, 2024 08:25PM) (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments It looks like green rows are categories that have been completed once… if we get to second (or later) copies of beads we can use a new color.

message 36: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments Yes, that's what teams I've been on have done in the past, typically blue or pink is next. Depending on the team, once the bead has been filled, we can either wipe out the green and start from blue/pink, or leave the green and just start blue. I don't really have a preference either way!

message 37: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments We are 1 book away from a gold bead! (King or queen is the last category, and then I can put a pendant toward finishing it.)

message 38: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I have less than 100 pages of The Other Boleyn Girl if we need a King/Queen book. I’d planned to finish it yesterday while my husband watched the superbowl but ended up getting sucked into the game (something that never happens with football)!

message 39: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Nothing much to report today, just making progress on A Court of Thorns and Roses

message 40: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2954 comments I finished Fatal Fried Rice tonight.

I'm hoping to finish Demelza by Wednesday for 18th century. I also hope to finish Migrations Wednesday and it fits several spots, but am leaning toward outdoors if it is still open.

message 41: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I finished The Other Boleyn Girl. I’m trying to decide which one to read next but I think it will be The Witch's Heart, which I think satisfies several prompts.

message 42: by Erica (last edited Feb 12, 2024 10:15PM) (new)

Erica | 366 comments Finished Me: Moth and slotted into the Pink musical instrument prompt.
This was a fantastic book. It's a ya novel in verse/poetry.

Also I will start To Woo and to Wed so we have a cover with a character wearing jewelry.

message 43: by Emma R. (new)

Emma R. | 79 comments I finished Lover Revealed over the weekend and I've updated the spreadsheet with that information. I had an awful headache yesterday, so I was not able to get much reading done. Luckily, I'm just updating PowerPoints at work today, so I should be able to get a lot of listening in.

message 44: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2954 comments I didn’t finish anything but made progress on three of my books. I’ll update my pages and hours tomorrow morning.

message 45: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments I finished A Court of Thorns and Roses last night! Next up is A Visit from the Goon Squad

message 46: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments I should finish A God in Ruins tonight. And The Women came in on Kindle and I am VERY excited to start that!

message 47: by Jillian (last edited Feb 14, 2024 03:18PM) (new)

Jillian | 2954 comments I finished Migrations. It was really weird and I'm glad to be done with it. I am hoping to finish Bookshops & Bonedust tonight which will work for the last Black prompt.

message 48: by Erica (new)

Erica | 366 comments Finished To Woo and to Wed not sure what I'm reading next.

message 49: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2954 comments I think, I have a couple hours left on Demelza and will finish it this morning for 18th century.

I just started The Bee Sting by Paul Murray The Bee Sting last night and if I'm lucky I will finish it before the read-a-thon is over. The copy I'm reading has the silver NY times sticker so I think it should count for silver on the cover which I don't see in possible books on the planning tab.

message 50: by Allie (new)

Allie | 44 comments okay, does it have to be shiny silver? Or does this count?
