Gypsy (ignited_red_queen) | 25 comments I was in a mood for reading a floppy or easy foldable paperback today and settled for my paperback copy of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. It seems like a good comfy contemporary romance for today's mood. ❤️

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments Yes, from childhood on I prefered hardcovers. No paperbacks or Kindle for me.

Brian | 186 comments Prefer hardcover over paperbacks, took me figuratively/literally years to wrap my mind and hands around a paperback. Kindle, wouldn't even consider. A book must have a degree of difficulty (meaning, the dictionary is coming out) in order to draw my minds eye or consume my interest, but yes, mixing up story genre is a must for me. It's funny...if someone would have told me..."Brian, you should read a classic romance novel"...l'd of considered them an idiot for even suggesting. But over the last few years they have become an important ingredient, and if my wife were to find out how many times l've fallen maddly in love with a leading female character...she may get quite jealous...just the other day, very smitten with Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice.

I have mostly hardcovers and I love them for aesthetic purposes but there is something so satisfying about having a good floppy book, it just sets my comfy mood sometimes. lol

A read is a read right :)

Boriana | 20 comments OMG YES! And the font too. And if it’s floppy or not. I like the floppy one with big font and the small format or hardcovers. If I have a book I don’t like the font of I start reading it online .

message 10: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments I am near-sighted, so paperbacks were never an option due to the smaller font.

Lisa Goldstein | 125 comments I like both hard and paperback but prefer a physical book I can hold. Kinda comforting to have an object you can cry and laugh with in your hands rather than online. Over the years I've gotten used to small print but prefer it larger. Large print books are great. And my library has lots of them. I keep a paperback in my handbag just in case I need to take a break from life to read, wherever I am.

ivyy˖⁺ | 41 comments honestly, most of the time when i get home from practice i just want a good, comforting, easy book to read yk? i like to read the kind of books where the fonts are super big and the books are kinda small, like 300 pages. if i get home and see a book that’s 500 pages and the font is so tiny, i’d just not want to read at all. (mb if that didn’t make any sense)

message 16: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments It depends on the book.
One of my most favorite books (Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher) is in hardcover, has 1200+ pages and a small font. As there is no other edition out there (only paperback which is a catastrophy when there are so many pages), I reread it every 4 or 5 years.
But usually the font size is important to me.

I read lots of 660+ pages books last year.

I agree, there are are some paperbacks that the print is too small but the ones that are a bit normal are fun.

Steve Koyasako | 68 comments I like to listen to a lot of books on Audiobook; that gives me a way to "read" while walking or doing chores, and helps me meet my reading goals. Also, a lot of books are wonderful on Audiobook, like Circe by Madeline Miller.

Try Mary Higgins Clark. She published several books taking place at Christmas time and those have less than 300 pages.

This is true, there are some books I actually prefer just on Audiobooks, some of my favorite narrators are Bailey Carr, Emily Sutton Smith, Elizabeth Evans, Josh Hurley, Brittany Pressely and Therese Plummer just off the top of my head. LOL.

I love The Siren Series by Rachel Higginson and The Tracy Crosswhite series on audible to name a couple. The Song of Achilles was pretty good too.
