There are three rules to follow during a vacation at the famous Koh Sang Resort

1 – Leave the past behind.

2 - Always be careful of who you trust.

Now, years later, Cass is a local dive instructor alongside the Permanents, a group of expats who have claimed the island as their own. The Permanents don't linger on who they were before the island. Simply because, like Cass, they all have something to outrun.

3 – If someone discovers who you really are, run.

But suddenly, a dive student is found dead and paradise comes crashing down. Because this isn't the first mysterious death on the island, and it won't be the last. Someone knows who Cass is and they're ready to make sure justice is finally served.

I previously read this one as an arc so I thought I'd throw my thoughts in here just in case anyone wanted to chat while they read!

I wonder who knows about Cass and whatever secret she is hiding.

Not sure what I think if Neil yet. doesn't seem like a bad guy. Logan also seems nice.

I like Brooke and her influencer status in order to travel around. I wonder how she plays in to all of this (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I think it'd be obvious that a lot of people hiding out on a small island resort would be running from something in their previous life.

but Daniel being convicted of a sexual assault?! Eek. I also didn't guess he would be killed next. Yikes!

and now we know Logan cheated with the first girl killed.
I've been worried about Logan through this. Maybe he isn't the nice guy he seems like

I'm not sure Brooke's roll in this. She couldn't have known Lucy would be killed - whether she reached out to her or not. But she is an outsider, not a permanent, I wonder if she will be next. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Once we found out Brooke's reasoning, I was so mad. I'm tired of women blaming and hating on other women. I just finished another book with toxic female friendships and I think I'm just burnt out on this theme. We aren't all mean to each other and we're trying to change the narrative.

I can't believe Brooke didn't realize that she might be just as traumatized or abused as her. I was so glad she realized, in the end, after she'd already blown up both their lives.

I'm also a bit sad that Neil ended up being the bad guy, the one guy that got out of it all. Ugh, lol, after so many horrible parts, I was hoping for a bit of happy ending. . .
