message 14: by Pisces51 (new)

Pisces51 I don't,but that is a good question. Does Goodreads count it as a book read? I know I sound stupid but I have read 13 books I think and one book is double listed. I am not complaining (well yes I am, why be passive aggressive) but I have had my lists of books read scrambled (the years read), and oh, missing many reviews I posted. I am not anyone just another reader but it is somehow insulting. I am trying to restore some that went MIA. Does this happen to any of you guys??? There are more strange things...yes I HAVE read Sara Blends "Come Closer".

message 15: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Black | 46 comments No, because it seems like cheating when you add it to your reading challenge.

message 16: by Pisces51 (new)

Pisces51 I see my fgtd!? tablet types anything it wants. I meant Sara Gran.

message 17: by Aeri (new)

Aeri (aerinafati) nope because I didn't actually finish the book yk-

message 18: by Sim1 (new)

Sim1 (sim1saunders) | 47 comments I say do what you want. You still read some of the book. Think of it this way. If you don't count it as read, then are you still entitled to write a review? (yes). There are no rules in reading. Count them or don't!

message 19: by ali (new)

ali | 76 comments no, because i just feel like i can't rate it when i didn't read the whole thing

message 20: by Carol Lynn (new)

Carol Lynn | 5 comments If I skim and see that the middle and end are horrendous, then I rate it as read. If I skim and see that it’s got more to give, but I’m just not personally feeling it, then I don’t.

message 21: by Francisco (new)

Francisco Núñez (francis_n19) I do

message 22: by { rosina } (new)

{ rosina } | 28 comments if I've read more than half before giving up, yeah

Aditi ~ readwaditi (readwaditi) | 66 comments I hardly dnf a book but yes

Artemis~Ebonie (Inactive) | 65 comments I do but I'll make sure it doesn't go into my yearly goal and put it on a shelf marked DNF

message 25: by Lilith (new)

Lilith Jane | 45 comments Nope, I can't rate them or talk about the complete plot and read to me is when I 100% finish a book and wrote a Review. Of course that's just what I do.

Regina the Constant Reader (queenofslackers) | 64 comments Yes, I mark them as read, review them, but I don’t rate them.

message 27: by Tanja (new)

Tanja | 315 comments no, because I haven't read them

message 28: by Britt (new)

Britt | 6 comments Depends how far I am in the book

message 29: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 131 comments it depends how far in i am. if i’m 40-50% or more, i’ll move it to my completed shelf and state in my review that i didn’t finish it. if i’m less than 40-ish percent through, i’ll just remove it from any of my shelves.

message 30: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Thomason | 15 comments nope

message 31: by maja (new)

maja | 151 comments no because I didn't read the whole book

message 32: by Krystina (new)

Krystina Boivin | 1 comments it depends how many pages I have left

message 33: by Marti (new)

Marti only if I really want to give it a negative review, so other people know about it before trying to read it

message 34: by Deb✨ (new)

Deb✨ (angelhawk) no, I mark them as abandoned so they won't count and put them on my dnf shelf.

message 35: by Valentina (new)

Valentina | 6 comments no

message 36: by Cyndy (new)

Cyndy (cyndy-ksreader) I don't. I have a partial reads shelf and I may actually finish them some day.

message 37: by RUMii (new)

RUMii X 18 | 15 comments Of I've read 75% then yes I do

kaylie ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ (cheerytea) | 3 comments no i personally dont. i dont want to rate something i havent read either so i usually just silently remove it off my shelf.

message 39: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 2 comments I do. I spent time trying to get through them and then for the last few chapters I read, I’m weighing up whether I should continue because maybe I’m being over-judgey and then I wonder if I should just plough through because it might get better which means I miss out on a good story which means for a significant part of what I read I’m not really enjoying it but trying to soldier on anyway…

So by the time I put it down I’m exhausted, even if I haven’t finished the book. So with all that work that goes into not finishing, yes, I mark it as read.

message 40: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Goldstein | 125 comments I don't. I just keep them nearby in case I want to try reading it again. Whoever said they have a dnf shelf is on point, IMHO.

message 41: by brithebusybee (new)

brithebusybee | 20 comments I didn't know anyone did this. If i didn't read every page, i didn't read the book, simple as that.

message 42: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Durand | 29 comments I read almost one ARC daily, and after a few pages I can tell if it’s a book that I will finish. If it’s a DNF, then I notify the author why, and certainly do not count it as read…then delete it from my Kindle.

message 43: by Mary ♥ (new)

Mary ♥ | 44 comments Nope, I have a separate shelf for it.

message 44: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Stretton | 23 comments No, I have a shelf from them.

message 45: by Yvette (new)

Yvette | 1 comments I can't. if I did not finish, I only partly read it. the good stuff could have happened a chapter or two later. But I will never know.

message 46: by Rimi (new)

Rimi | 65 comments No, I don’t.

message 47: by Zoe Anne (new)

Zoe Anne M (theboundlessbookworm) | 98 comments Nope. It would be unfair

message 48: by Oblivionsdream (new)

Oblivionsdream | 1 comments It depends. If I’ve read 50%+ of the book then yes. By that point I’ve more read the book than not read it. Even if I don’t know the ending of the book specifically I know enough about the story/characters to have an opinion on it and why I didn’t like it enough to finish it.

message 49: by Maria (new)

Maria | 6 comments No. Its not a "finished" read. It's like running a lap - the finish line is the end. If you stop, are hurt, or just leave, it's not "a lap". For the two that I dnf'd, i just say couldn't finish.

message 50: by Petik ✨ (new)

Petik ✨ | 7 comments nope, cuz I didn't get to the end
