description

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait.

Pre-Reading Questions -

Anybody got any thoughts on this one before we start?

Has anyone read anything similar to this before?

Anybody read anything else by this author previously?

Elaina | 193 comments As I am reading this (I am on chapter 11) all I can do is think of how this reminds me of Twilight. It is very cliche with the typical "monsters/vamps" stereotyps. I do like the descriptions of the setting and the care the author uses to paint a picture though. Hopefully as I keep reading my opinion changes.

I might join this one

I have started to get into the book a little more. It is still a bit weird reading about teenagers in love. I am in love with the setting. The white snow covering a gothic castle just adds more to the story. It gives the reading a horror feel. The author also does a great job of using the setting to add suspense to the plot.

How do yall feel about the setting of the book? Do you believe that the environment and weather play an essential role in the book?

Cinthia | 1193 comments I already read this series and loved it. I think I 5 starred them. I think I still have the last two to read but it's been over a year since I read them that I need a refresher.
