What's the most traumatizing book you've read and loved it? Even though you would probably never read it again.

A little life was the most traumatic book I've ever read in my life. It took me 6 months to finish it and it wasn't because it was a very long book. I was just so depressed after reading it. But I loved it nonetheless.

Blindness and Tender is the Flesh, both books that made me physically gag while reading, the idea that the things people did in those books were so realistic and things were all physically capable of doing if we needed to. they were amazing pieces of literature and that's shown in my disdain for them, i truly hate the way those books made me feel, because they wanted me to feel that way. and that rlly is writing,

Probably, Doris Lessing's Briefing for a Descent into Hell. it's not traumatizing per se, but something in the way that book's written resonated with me and scared me about the future and how insignificant one may be.

Another vote for Lord of the Flies here. I was depressed for a full two weeks after I finished it, but I think it did what Golding set out to do marvelously. A very necessary book.
