Requesting Recs: Queer Horror

Hello! I host a queer horror lit book club and while I have a large to-read and list of recommendations for it, I was wondering if anyone else had any LGBTQ+ books in the horror genre that they adored and would recommend.

I heard mixed reviews on The Last Girls Standing, but it is on my list. Did you think it was good?

These are kinda old but I 100% enjoyed reading and re-reading Gerri Hill's Johnston & Riley series (F/F). There are only 2 books in the series: Keepers of the Cave and Weeping Walls and they're both fun, fast-paced, AND scary (you may want to check out the audiobook, Abby Craden is just superb!)

Another oldie rec is JR Ward's M/M paranormal romance called Lover at Last.

A more recent one is Carmen Maria Machado's Her Body and Other Parties: Stories. It's a collection of horror short stories and definitely queer.

A couple more horror recs:
The Last of the Loudens - sapphic romance AND ghosts
Sylver and Gold - more on the crime/mystery side but with a paranormal twist. still sapphic.

Thanks to the other recs as well, I am now piling my tbr with more and more reads!

Where Sleeping Girls Lie by Faridah Abike-Iyimide is an excellent queer focused horror murder mystery. YA friendly, but delves into a ton of topics and the boarding school setting is perfectly claustrophobic. The audiobook was more chilling than the physical due to some recording choices that were, chefs kiss, perfect.

If you are looking for more adult content, The Dead Take The A Train from Cassandra Khaw and Richard Kadrey was delightfully grotesque and queer, reminiscent of cyber-punk genre but with demons both good and bad. Another one I liked was Prophet, by Sin Blache and Helen Macdonald. Following two queer special agents trying to solve the mystery of an unknown substance that is holding people catatonic. Fever dream, trippy, sometimes outrageous horror, with intimate relationship development and super steamy bits.

its ya, and i didnt really find it scary but i think its supposed to be horror....
also it's a graphic novel so it does have a lot of blood, some homophobic language (no slurs), and what would technically be considered nudity, but not really.

I couldn't agree more on this book; it was dark and brooding as well as erotic. I'm very much looking forward to reading more by the author, Arden Powell who identifies as a "nebulous entity". Gotta love it.

I haven't read it yet but Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle sounded promising. I'm not a horror fan but the premise got me interested. It's about an author in Hollywood being pressured into killing off gay characters. It explores corporate greed while being a thriller.

Recent release, I haven't read it: Hungerstone by Kat Dunn. A feminist reworking of Carmilla, the 1872 novella about a lesbian vampire that reportedly inspired Dracula.
