Thank you!Continuing the Rick Riordan-a-thon! Now with the Magnus Chase books!
1. The Sword of Summer Mar 15
2. The Ship of the Dead Apr 15 [link]
3. The Hammer of Thor May 15 [link]
If we're still going strong at the end, we'll move along to the Trials of Apollo.
Starting! The opening lines about Magnus being homeless, and how most people just see homeless as invisible, is so true...
Through Chapter 7--Nice ending to a chapter! I don't trust the uncle. I like Magnus's friends--and I appreciate some deaf & sign-language representation.
Chapter 8--I wish my knowledge of Norse Mythology was more polished, but I just know the obvious biggies. I do like the random Doctor Who references tossed in here and there though.
Monika wrote: "Need to catch up with so many books..."LOL You're the one that was up to chapter 14 a week ago! I thought I was jumping in late.
LOL Whoops! Well, I'm through Chapter 35 now. Still enjoying! Makes me want to pick up a Norse gods book, for more details...Annabeth cameo! Can't wait for them to swap stories.
I really like Samira too, and that she's setting Magnus straight on his preconceptions about Muslim culture.
Also laughed at the "A sword into a pen? What a silly idea!" Hah, take that Percy!
Chapter 39 LOL OMG cousins!! Magnus has more cousins! And it's interesting how similar the Norse gods are to the Greek ones, in self-centeredness and general lack of maturity...
I plan to start this one tomorrow. It's a re-read for me but it's been a couple years and I never read the third in the trilogy.
Finished! I LOVE this ending... a nice family chat... And I really want to know who won that bet.I like the twist on the traditional warrior ending, and Jack makes me laugh. I would like to see if Magnus can mediate between him and his dad.
Also liked the triumphant return and revelations at the feast. Kind of reminded me of the end-of-year banquets at Harry Potter....

I read the first book but haven't finished the trilogy yet. Not sure if I read the second or not, actually, can't remember. I might be in the same spot as you.
Not reading spoilers. Planning to finish this one some point this week. Somehow... Bit of rollercoaster here...too much to do and to deal with without enough time for reading.

re: chapter 25--Magnus's family is totally sketchy!! You know who his cousin is, right? ^_~
re: 38--Agree on Sessrumnir! And I didn't even know it existed--kudos to Riordan for teaching me about Norse Mythology...
Chapter 56: I am curious if you all would rescue (view spoiler) or not. I might just have walked away.
