Kate | 3 comments I had this book in the 1990's definitely before 2000. I can't find it and it is driving me nuts! I read it around grade 5.

I thought it was called something like Landing Library, but I can't find anything like that.

There was a girl who was running? a library on the landing of her stairs, and had a weird best friend. The girl had a grandmother who was missing part of her pinkie finger from it being slammed in a door. The girl also wore produce elastics to hold up her socks. I think the cover was a girl from the waist down with her socks and elastics showing.

Any thoughts?

I pulled up my socks. I pulled so hard that I popped my left elastic. ‘“Shucks!’’ I held the broken band and stared at my falling sock.

Lyon was missing a finger! On Lyon’s left hand, her little pinky was gone! Where there should have been a knuckle was an ugly stump that wiggled. I swallowed. “Uh, where’s your finger? I mean, what happened to your hand?”

(Lyon is her grandmother)

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5545 comments I remembered the grandma with the missing finger so I checked a copy on archive.org and found those quotes to confirm it
