Like I said, cats and dogs and such. Anthromorphic, but not super cartoony, like they wrote pajamas and stuff. Vibrant colours. Not watercolours or clay or obviously sketchy. Probably hand-drawn or painted, I'm not an artist XD But I don't remember them being super obvious.
I don't think there was any "main" character.

The way you spelled "watercolours" made me think it could be from a specific country.

The one I remember most was about these animals that had a sleepover (obviously). Cats and dogs and stuff, but very anthromorphic, like nightgowns and pajamas and stuff. They hear a noise in the night and everyone sneaks downstairs and find out it was only one of their friends or something like that. There may be cookies at the end? I think I had several books by the same author, and I think it was all the same series, but I don't remember if it was like a whole thing about sleepovers or what, but it could have been.
The time frame would have been early to mid-90s at latest, since I was born in '92 and I had the books before I could even read, and I started reading around 4. Any guesses?
