My library hold for this book JUST came up - perfect timing! Can't wait to start reading this one :)
I'm going to do this one! I couldn't get my hands on January's book but I have both of the ones ready for February. I'm currently number 3 on 31 copies so I hope that it shows up this weekend.

Question 1
Because this book gives off major Hallmark movie vibes, I’d love to know who you would cast as Alexis and Daniel.
I can't decide on Daniel yet, but I think I like Jessica Chastain for Alexis.

Great to have you!

Question 2
Alexis is charmed by Daniel’s small-town life, even though it’s completely different than the life she’s been living. Does Daniel’s life appeal to you? Or would you prefer Alexis’s big city situation?
The older I get, the more I enjoy the idea of Daniel's life and it already is far more similar to what I currently have.

So, I really liked this story. I liked the characters (main and secondary) and I enjoyed the evolution of Alexis.
Also, I really love books with quirky and/or silly pet characters... they make my day! I loved Hunter!

Saw that you are taking this for A little mermaid retelling and have been hunting for something so decided to join in. Usually not my style of book but should be able to start in a few days. The pet goat sounds intriguing although do not think I would want one as a pet.

Yay! Glad to have you, Anastasia! I finished it quick and really enjoyed it! :)

Just got this from my library. Have one short book to listen to first and then I'll listen to this one.
Ok, My picks:Daniel - Got to be...

Because any excuse to

Amy Adams just works for me in this role. also, I need to take this picture to my hairdresser next time, because this is the exact colour I once had and loved and haven't been able to get again since, lol.
I'll take Daniel's life, thanks (though I would prefer to live in the house, not the loft, lol)I've done both the city and the rural thing, and these days I'd much prefer to not have drunk people yelling outside my house (sadly an almost daily occurrence), no loud parties 3 times a week at the neighbour's across the street, not to live a couple of doors down from a drug dealer, and take the comparatively crime-free rural living instead, thanks! (We've not only been broken into here, but have had people just walk in bold as brass while we've been in, knowing that thanks to our stupid laws, there is nothing we can do to stop them (in the UK, if a burglar is hurt, even accidentally, in your house, you are liable!)
There's a reason we're hoping to move this year! 😆
I wasn't expecting too much from this, as this really isn't my genre, but I actually didn't think it was bad at all (3.5 rounded up).I'm a sucker for a man who can cook (and doesn't destroy the whole kitchen doing so *side-eyes hubby*), so Daniel had me won over pretty easily there, lol.
About 20% in and struggling. This is moving along so slow for me. My grandmother had a pet goat and one in pyjamas just sounds weird. At the point of their second date which sounds lovely. Hopefully things will start to pick up.
The goat isn't around much in the book. I didn't notice any pacing issues, but then I did listen to the audio, and am used to very slow moving books, so this seems pacey in comparison...
I think the book started to pick up for me at about a third of the way through with Alexis visit with her two friends. I loved the part of the magical quality to the town where the trees started to rain down acorns on the friends as they tried to write the bad review. Just past the halfway mark at present.
Ashley wrote: "The dog is the animal front runner here. He's precious."Love Hunter. He does steal the show.
I do love the food and cooking aspects of the book but feel that Alexis character and inability to do simple cooking tasks unrealistic. After all there are a lot of similarities between medicine and cooking such as the ability to follow instructions and a recipe. Being proficient in chemistry adds to the ability to mix ingredients and understand the cooking process. Peeling potatoes and chopping and slicing have similar actions in medical tasks.
Have been switching between Audio and kindle for this and I love the narration which has added to my enjoyment of the book. The performance is superb.
I think it's not so much that she couldn't cook if she tried, it's just that she's never had to, so isn't sure where to begin.Rich people problems! lol.

I suppose, but I would have expected Neil to have those traits more so.
Okay so I finally finished. I had to stop and take a break at about the 75% mark as I couldn't take all the wallowing in depression. It just seemed to drag on. It seemed to pick up at the halfway mark but that didn't seem to last. I did like the town of Wakan and it characters and magical qualities. I think I actually enjoyed the Q and A at the end of the book more than the book itself. Just okay for me and I rated it 2 stars overall.
This kind of book is definitely my guilty pleasure and it had me swooning at pretty much the entire time with the relationship with between Daniel and Alexis. While it wasn't my favorite story and I did not like the parents or Neil, I am choosing to ignore those parts.Did anyone automatically this about Adison and Derek from Grey's Anatomy at the beginning of this book. And all the other descriptions. I am wondering if the author used that as her inspiration.

I would be alright with Daniel's small-town living for an extended vacation, but I definitely could not deal with that long term. I am a city girl through and through. I love not knowing who I am going to encounter on my everyday life and knowing that there is also a new place to eat. There are plenty of opportunities to create communities that make the world feel less large. So while I understand the appeal of a small town it is definitely not for me.
Maria wrote: "This kind of book is definitely my guilty pleasure and it had me swooning at pretty much the entire time with the relationship with between Daniel and Alexis. Anastasia wrote: "Maria wrote: "This kind of book is definitely my guilty pleasure and it had me swooning at pretty much the entire time with the relationship with between Daniel and Alexis. I finally got this one from the library and am starting it. I love romance books but this one just isn't catching my attention as fast. I'm hoping that it's just because I have so much in my brain that I haven't had time to really focus on it and I have several books going on at once. I'm going to spend some time tonight really reading it without distractions.
Hey! Sorry, I finished it but I just haven't had time to come back to talk about it. So, I ended up liking the book for the most part but there were things that could've been better. I don't see why there was such an emphasis on the age difference between Alexis and Daniel because Neil was the same age difference. I'll answer the questions in the next post.
Question 1:[Because this book gives off major Hallmark movie vibes, I’d love to know who you would cast as Alexis and Daniel. (hide spoiler)]
I don't really watch Hallmark movies but I like the idea of Amy Adams.
Question 2: [
Alexis is charmed by Daniel’s small-town life, even though it’s completely different than the life she’s been living. Does Daniel’s life appeal to you? Or would you prefer Alexis’s big city situation? (hide spoiler)]
I grew up in the country but now live in the city but the suburbs. I think my perfect world would be country-surburbs. I love the country style but want to be able to get into the city in 10-15 minutes in case I need groceries or such.
Question 3:[
Did you have a favorite sweet, funny, or turning point moment in Alexis and Daniel’s story? (hide spoiler)]
If I had to pick one moment it would be the speech when he showed up in the fancy clothes but I don't really have anything that stood out.
