Compilation of humorous non-fiction stories by a U.S. Navy Lieutenant, about his time in the Navy, late 70s

I read this book around 1978. It was hardcover and I recall it as being cream or pale yellow. The author was a U.S. Navy Lieutenant, Junior Grade. He wrote non-fiction (as I recall) humor stories about his time in the Navy. There were several stories per book, and I believe he wrote more than one book. One story I recall vividly involved him playing an April Fool’s joke on his commanding officer in the form of faked transfer orders for the C.O. It was quite an elaborate prank that spun out of control and back-fired in a BIG way. Any help would be appreciated.
