Ok, does anyone else secretly wish that sometime they'd get sick (not painfully, hopefully) but contagious and have to stay home for a week? If you had a week at home in which you didn't have much energy but weren't completely physically decimated, what would you do?

I have a shit-ton of stuff recorded on my DVR. I could use a week just to watch several episodes of Fringe and The Prisoner, as well as a bunch of movies.
at the moment i am unemployed and take care of my mother who has a terminal illness so i know how it can be.. i spend my time taking care of things around the house, and my pets, and finding interesting things to do and read to keep my mind going.. one of those things is starting to write more, and taking interesting in attempting the national novel writing month challenge this november..
i just got the book The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson and the first chapter is already very very good. this is the "sequel" to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which i read due to some friends on TC suggesting it. anyway, i would take a week and finish this book, re-read Caribbean by James Michener and then work on editing my pics from haiti all the while drinking my new fav drink, Limeade and eating cereal
Aside from reading and more reading, I would finally watch The Wire. Have myself a wonderful marathon.
I would probably do some reading, movie marathon or something, but the end result would probably be drive my wife and son crazy, because I don't like being sick and that is just too much time in one place.
Is The Wire continuing, or was last season the end?
I think I'm the only person alive who's never watched The Wire.

That's too bad.
That's too bad.
I've always wanted to watch that show, but I was afraid to jump in when I'd didn't watch previous seasons.
That's a mistake I haven't done with other shows, like Mad Men, for example.

I've never seen The Wire either.I would wish it were it not for the fact that I'm completely solo in my job and if I'm not there (here) people freak out and my work just piles up. Not that I'm complaining. I'm happy to be employed and I like my job overall.
But my company will completely shut down from Dec 23 - Jan 5. That's the only way I can take vacation. I'm gonna read and watch movies and clean my house and sleep in until I feel like getting up. :-) Then I'll be bored silly after a few days. That's what happened last year.
I'm with you Jaimie, that much time off, and if you don't go anywhere would make me silly too.
Misha, if you're a real glutton for punishment you should do the extended versions of LOTR in a row. They're good but they're looooooong. :-)
Misha, I'm like you except there's no probably, when my boys go away for extended times during holiday season and I'm all alone I am shocked that I spend all my time on the Internet!
I'd watch The Princess Bride, followed by This is Spinal Tap. And I've been planning on reading the last two Twilight books the next time I get sick. I hear the last one is pretty shocking!
Princess Bride and Spinal Tap are both Rob Reiner movies, and Christopher Guest is in both of them. They're a natural duo, in my mind.Plus, the "Stonehenge" number cracks me up, every time!
I can last a fewdays plenty to read and many DVd's to watch. Plus sleeping, and surfing the next and posting on Tc.But, never be sick for a long time! I had eye surgery and was off for 7 weeks while my eyse healed. Way too long to be idle. And, I could not READ until the inside of my eyes healed so I went 7 weeks without reading. I shudder to think about it.
(This was several years ago so audio books were not widely available.)
i stayed in bed an extra 20+ minutes today to read more of The Girl Who Played With Fire and i could EASILY have just stayed in bed today and read. not sure about a week but...
Kevin: When I get certain books I KNOW I will like--say something I have been waitng to find--I do not DARE start them on a work day or I will be late! The absolute best books are the ones that are hard to put down!
MC...there's ALWAYS time for lots of sex.
I was working from home this week, which proved to be a rather slow week, so I managed to watch Parts 1 through 5 of Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyers' Cut) and 3 weeks' worth of Fringe.
By the way, I gave up on FlashForward. Something tells me this is going to prove to be a weakly-formulated series, so I'm sparing myself the disappointment in learning that.

Not much changes when I'm sick. My kids still demand my attention just as much. When I do get sick I always imagine their granparents taking them a few days, and I do nothing but lay around and read, watch movies etc. To be able to read a full chapter of anything uninterrupted would be great, sick or not.
