How to buddy read online?

I've heard of people buddyread on goodreads but i don't understand how it works like do you discuss every chapter or after you've finished the book because I'm confused but it sounds fun

Lol it sounds fun but every chapter feels like homework tbh, especially if you're like me and read anywhere from 1-30 chapters a day depending on the book lol

yeah I thought the same i think its kind of impossible if its not in person lol

Depends in what you and your buddy agree.
Some agree on just commenting when they have something to say.
Some agree to read a certain kind of numbers of pages/chapters in a week and then chat at a certain time (difficult with different time zones).
Some devide the book in different parts and read at their own pace, then they write at the end of said parts to each other using the spoiler function.

what i do is we both read as much as we want that day and then the next day talk ab whatever we got up to and then repeat that. no set schedules or set amount of chapters cuz everyone reads at their own pace
