And thanks for that - I definitely find it a lot easier to go through and comment on other people’s books rather than scour shelves or click through to see who’s read what lol.

I will have more time to sit down and engage a little bit better later today. Kelly, thank you for being an awesome co-cap and answering all the questions so seamlessly!
Which means, you will do it for the next 3 months too. HAHAHA! :p

But anyway, I think I’ll be starting with In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. It’s been on my GR TBR shelf the longest, so it’ll also know out some prompts from all the reading challenges I’m currently doing.

that's been on my TBR forever too. Once you read it I'll pick it up for the reverse.
I'm going to start with The Hero of Agesto finish out that series.

Do tell if you still think so after actually reading it :D

Seriously? It is over 1000 pages?
I am kinda glad I have not read it :D

That sounds really painful... Hope you like Capote more :)

Okay, today I have more time, so...
Hi everyone! I am Maddy. I am from Latvia, which is in Europe. Don't feel bad if you d..."
Hello Maddy, I was hoping to plan a trip across parts of Eastern Europe sometime later this year and Riga was definitely on the cards. The manors, castles, houses just look so picturesque! So, excited to have someone from Latvia on the team this time.
Oh and don't feel stressed about reading the most books per month. Haha. Read as you normally would and everything would happily fall into place. And also don't worry about reading anything you don't want to read - this is a fun challenge and we totally plan on enjoying every bit of it for the next three months.
The best thing about UNO is pretty much any book we read tends to have something that fits in one of our letters - the only thing that would be helpful would be if we could just note down the character names and other specific things in the spreadsheet as you go. Everything else is pretty much whatever you feel like reading in the moment. :)
Hope this can be a much more fun and relaxing experience for you this time around.
Welcome again! :)

I am in the US. South Carolina, originally from California though.
I tend to be more of a mood reader lately, like Maddy. I used to read a lot more books in the past years, h..."
Hey Jo, welcome welcome! I loved how you went from one end of the country to the exact geographic opposite end. Historical Fiction and Magical Realism are some really cool genres - wonder if we have a book that mixes the two - without making it a fantasy book that is. Hmm! Need to search!
Still Alice is just a gut-punch of a story. I have been holding on to reading Remarkably Bright Creatures for a while now - glad to see it up on your top list. Definitely helps me bump it up my TBR. I can take all the help I can with that. Haha. :)
Happy to have you on the team, Jo.
Only a day more to go - sooooo excited! :)

(Just a note I started writing this two day ago... lol. My life is one constant distraction 😂)
This is my second year doing UNO. I'm based out of Colorado, a full time administrative ass..."
Lover of Chocolate!! You get a lifetime free pass to be on the team at all times because of that, Becky. Haha!
Welcome to the team. I am going to totally turn to you for all Romance recommendations - the books that you listed were all new to me (except looking at the beautiful face of Tom on one! :P). I am definitely going to try and see if my local libraries have any of these books available. I mean there is V.E. Schwab in there, so chances are I am going to be a happy camper reading it. :)
I am glad that between all your work, keeping tab on the two littles (which I am sure is quite a task on its own!), crafting something new, AND eating chocolate you are here to have fun for the next three months!
Welcome again, Becky!
And now I need to go eat me some chocolate! :P

Hey Lilly! You made it!
We were worried you got lost in the wonderful aisles of GoodReads looking for books. Haha.
But, totally hear you. The GoodReads app is just plain painful. I still don't prefer using it for pretty much anything, because half the time it crashes on me and the remaining half, I spend time searching my team :P
Thank you for sharing your top reads. This is the second mention of Remarkably Bright Creatures - that's it! I am sold. I am reading it for this year's UNO. *searches library's bookshelves*
It's great to have you on the team. Don't worry about any hiccups.
We are all here to have fun. So feel free to throw any questions and we will try and find an answer for you. I hope the game is exciting this year (like every year) and you become an UNO veteran very soon. Haha! :) Welcome again!

This can be a great opening line to a horror novel! :P

Usually I will put my books as “currently reading” on GR and then as I log them on my personal spreadsheet I’ll mark them as read. I do that at the end of the month. That….wont fly for the next three months!!

Yesss! Me tooooo! :D
This makes me soo happy.
Also, it seems like you are having a fun time towards the end of the month sorting everything out. Haha! :P

I’ll actually be kicking the month off with an audio (3.5 hours is 10pm here which is my audio and game time) so I’ll be starting a Flash Fire (TJ Kline) reread, but audio this time instead of eyeballs.

Do you have timings when you decide which to read? One for morning, one for afternoon, one for night? Or do you just close your eyes and pick the one you feel like reading in the moment?

I DID IT! I finished one. Okay, okay it's a short one - but why do you think I saved it for yesterday? To start with a 💥😂👏. Here is my completion post. I *think* I put it in the sheet properly so guys let me know if I need to do more or I missed a step?
...Okay off to read some more :)

I actually started on the Feb 1st with reading The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocomb and today I will continue reading that and the Non-fiction book that I started this morning. I updated my profile so both books are showing and tagged to my Uno2024 folder. I'm working more hours this coming week, so unfortunately that will cut into my available reading time.

ha ha, the second one for me :D
I can have up to like 10 books or something going at the same time. I read what I am in the mood for, if it gets bad or boring, I drop it and start another one :D
To be fair, most of them just don't get finished at all, but I do try to finish some too :D

TEN?! Like 9+1 = 10? 7+3 = 10?? :O
How do you keep them all going in your head at the same time? That is serious talent! Whoa!

OMG, Kelly. You are not helping my guilt meter by calling it a dead tree! :P

Bang on, Becky! And you got a big one in the beginning itself - a color book and one that works for 7 (normally a pesky number).
Woot woot!! :D

"The Violin Conspiracy" is a great book - hope you're like it, Jo.
Crazy work schedules are never fun - hope you do get to relax and do happy things in between that though.

LOL. You are funny :D

(Hope you didn't mind a review footnote: I thought this book would lean towards the history of Broadway which it does. But it's also a huge tell all with all kinds of random people popping up in unlikely places. And if you need to pick up some new back handed compliments and snarky phrases this is your book)

I completed The Violin Conspiracy and I did enjoy it. Although I kind of guess ahead of time the twisty ending. I find it hard sometimes to find a book or movie that actually surprises me with the ending. I updated the spreadsheet by checking it off. Hope that and this "completion" post is suffice.
I have a question: Does anyone have one specific favorite author? I have heard of book friends that like one authors work so much they have a goal to read everything that author has written.

Yeah, that is unfortunately always the sidebar when it comes to being good at guessing the twists. I did so with this book as well - the mystery was kind of okay, but the handling of the story is what appealed to me with this book. Glad you had a good time with it as well.
Also, for completions, that check mark is for verifying that your book is added to your UNO Shelf - so thank you for doing that. But if you could add in a completion date in Column D, that would be great, which would tell me exactly when you're done and I don't move the wrong book into the completed section. Haha! :)

I certainly have favorite authors who I want to read the complete published works off. Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of book friends who would be keen on investing all that time and energy, HAHA! :p

Oh dear. Yes, I know such people too. Mostly Stephen King fans. Ugh.
Can't say I have one favorite author myself. I like several authors, but picking one and sticking to this one author gets so tedious. There are so many books out there!

I keep forgetting that shelf... I think I need to get used to it some more.. I will have mastered it by book 100... maybe :D
I did add them though! They should all be there now!

Can we maybe add another tracking thingy where I could track books that I have which could be reverse in the future if I actually get on with reading them?
Like I have already, which I plan to read.. at some point.
Everyone Here is Lying
I'm Glad My Mom Died
Yellowface
So if we urgently need a reverse or something, then I could just pick one of those and also in a true lazy fashion copy all the things they fit? :D
Or should I just try to track it myself. Got to say though, my memory is really, really not the best :D
Edit: Hmmm, maybe I could just add a comment or something like "have it, can read it"

I may not fully understand but when I find myself reading a book someone else has read and put on the spreadsheet, I just copy their entry changing it to my name and adding in the reverse details.

I have favorite authors that I am slowly trying to make my way through their entire collections to mixed results. For some, I want to read all of one series they have but not another. For others, it's full on completionism. I think I'm close with Ursula Le Guin, Winston Churchill and Eric Larson. Plus closing in a half dozen others. I try not to read more then one of their books a month so I don't burn out.

I have a few where I've read a significant portion of their back catalogue (Nora Roberts/JD Robb), most of a specific genre/age group (TJ Klune), or the stuff theyve written under a specific pen name (Seanan McGuire). I have two books I audio every quarter (A Taste for Poison: Eleven Deadly Molecules and the Killers Who Used Them and The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper) but as a general rule I tend to binge genres rather than authors.
