يعمل الاستعمار الاستيطاني على تجريد السكان الأصليين من روايتهم التاريخية وإرثهم ، من أجل إضفاء الشرعية على حبسهم في المستوطنات ومراكز الاحتجاز والمحميات. بل إنه يذهب إلى حد الانخراط في الإبادة الجماعية.

Colonial settlement works to strip indigenous people of their historical narrative and heritage, aiming to legitimize their confinement in settlements, detention centers, and reserves. It goes so far as to engage in genocide.

This has happened all over the world, including in the United States. My story begins in prison. Here, you'll see how a small bird can assist in telling the story of occupation, free from lies. This bird has gathered the stories of Palestinians to demonstrate that they are imprisoned, whether within prison walls or outside, whether in Palestinian territories or in exile.

The Palestinian population is held by the occupation in various prisons; some are small, called prisons, while others are larger and referred to as towns and villages. These are surrounded by military checkpoints, walls, and settlements.

Sometimes, the political reports in the news may feel distant, and it saddens me to see our stories reduced to numbers and statistics, becoming the bleeding life of a Palestinian between military checkpoints and one prison after another. This is the reality of colonial settlement.

This book attempts to translate headlines into stories and illustrations, allowing you, the reader, to see and feel the reality of Palestinian life. There are other important issues not addressed here, as Palestinians have many priorities not mentioned in this book. I would need at least ten more books to adequately describe the lives of Palestinians, but I hope I have fairly captured this life.
