Horror Short Story that ends with a man trapped in a church unable to open his eyes and being overcome by some unknown people/creatures

I read this in an anthology in 2014ish: an older man goes on vacation with his daughter and her kids (I think in England) but he feels like they don't want to hang out with him so he asks them to drop him off in a little village that he had read a travel book about so he can go exploring. He eats at the pub and asks the waiter about the area and maybe for directions to a particular landmark. Then he leaves and starts to walk toward a stone church in the distance. He sees a man walking around it in a creepy odd way as he approaches. He goes inside and looks around. Then he hears some noise or something and knows something is in there with him. He somehow knows he can't look directly at whatever it is or he will die or maybe lose his mind. So he has his eyes closed and he is trying to feel his way out of the church. That is where the story ends.

In the story there are cars and radios and electricity. I think the characters are from England or thereabouts too, it was not a big vacation they were on and the man ate in a pub.
