Zainab | 157 comments just annotate your favorite santances or if you want to comments on stuff you can annotate that too just write what you want and have fun. Oh and i usually annotate some characters so i won't forget about them.

maddy ☕️🎧 (maddyy_) | 82 comments When I first started annotating I used different colours for happy/ sad/ funny/ plot/ quotes/ etc. now I usually just tab my favourite parts/ quotes and will give them different colours for the main characters/ favourite quotes

Selena | 4 comments I used to annotate for class, and we would use highlighters at time and then pen/pencil. We would underline, circle or highlight things that pertained to theme, symbolism, etc. I'm getting back into annotating and right now I'm doing my favorite parts/things I find interesting.

Adi Weber | 4 comments I do it super casually - I just tab my favorite quotes and moments. I do usually do colors per thing (sad, love it, relatable), but it kinda depends on my mood! I love writing my comments in there too, they're fun to look back on! The best part of annotating is you can do it however it makes you happy ((((:

leebvt | 1 comments I usually annotate as I read :) I personally don’t like using highlighters or physically writing on books, so I use post-it notes, sticky tabs and highlighter tape ! I usually use colours of sticky tabs that correlate to the book cover; I just prefer it looking pretty that way, but so I don’t get confused if what I’m tabbing what as, I have different shades of the same colour :) I hope this helps !

♡ Stephanie Reads ♡ (stephaniereads2much) | 9 comments I use the sticky tabs kinda willy nilly, but usually to annotate:
- quotes or moments I like,
- if I like how something is worded, i.e really vivid descriptive writing that stands out to me,
- quotes or moments that are relatable/make me feel something,
- words I haven't seen before (so I can look them up and ideally try to add them to my vocabulary hasn't worked yet),
- if I think something is a hint/that might make sense later I might tab it!
- if it feels like a key moment for the plot/character development I might tab it!

message 13: by Lee ⚜ (last edited Jan 24, 2024 05:46PM) (new)

Lee ⚜ (grovedigging) | 2 comments I tab in categories of love/like/dislike/hate/neutral comment. On pages I've tabbed I add a sticky note going into more detail about what jumped out at me and why I feel the way I do.

I feel like it helps me engage more with the writing and focus on parts that matter to me instead of reading mindlessly :) (I suppose it also helps that it looks pretty, haha)

maddie | 5 comments what are good highlighters and pens to use ?
i hate when it seeps through the page

sonya mira ⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆ | 24 comments i like to keep 3-4 tabs when i annotate so things don’t get too overwhelming. i do one for quotes just to keep track of writing I enjoy. 1 for things that relate to my life personally. another one for major plot points in the novel. finally, I do one for serendipity when either i have an insight or learn something from the novel that i wasn’t expecting. more importantly, i keep a stack of transparent sticky notes and whenever im reading and i get a string of thoughts i put them all on the note and in the corresponding page. i kind of think of it as book inspired journaling. it made me connect a lot more with everything i read and has been very personal. hope this helped you out a bit xx 🤍

message 16: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 27 comments Hi! I'm not one for writing on books, but I do tab sometimes. I found it's a great way to organize my thoughts, something to look back on, and it even helps me know what to write for reviews. I usually use different colors for book tabs.
Ex) Yellow = quotes, blue = anything that resonates with me as a reader and/or as a writer, green = things I really liked, red = things I disliked, orange = major plot points/memorable moments.
If I have something more to say, then I write it down on a sticky note.
Hope this helps!

Nina | 392 comments It’s up to you to know what you think is important in the book

⋆ b r e z ! ⋆ | 1019 comments I like to just underline a cute quote and tab the page. Anything more than that would make me anxious 😬
