Caroline Vandriel Furman (cjvandriel) Hello, hive mind.
I read this book a few years ago (about 10+-?) and have been trying to find it back for the last five. I don't remember many details of the plot, other than it was one of those journey/quest plots that picked up random characters along the way. The main character is female and the setting was medieval in nature.. The one detail that I remember with clarity is a young man, I believe that he was a guard or soldier at some point. He tells the others in the group about his wife. She asked for a loom for Christmas. He didn't know any better, so he got her knitting needles. She was confused at first, but then went out of her way to learn to use them and knit things for him. I believe that she has died before he joined the quest. If it sounds familiar, please suggest titles.
Thank you!

Caroline, is this book for adults or teens?

What are some of the fantasy elements?

I copied some book details to the topic header. Feel free to edit it.

A guess - The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen?

One Goodreads reviewer says: "The warriors/guards are all men, the women cook, care for the children, knit and weave (while men can’t even distinguish knitting-needles from a weaving-loom)..." https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Google Books preview:

- There are different cover images.
Google search of Goodreads:
site:goodreads.com "fantasy" "loom" "knitting needles"
