My new book coming out in April 26, 2024 was added today and someone immediately marked it 2 stars, even though only one set of eyes other than my own has read it so far. I am new to being an author, so I wasn't sure if this was okay or allowed before a book has been read or released to the public? Am I allowed to kindly reach out to them and ask if I did something to offend them or if it was an accident? Or is this just part of the process that I have to deal with? Thank you. I appreciate it. Have a great week.

Readers are allowed to rate books that haven't been released yet.My strong advice to you is to never engage with a reader about their perceived negative review. If you do, you'll be forever known as a BBA (bad acting author).
That rating will eventually disappear once the book has been released and lots of people read it.
