Team Valmont's Between the Sheets

I think you would just use one attribute from the book -- looks like you're choosing name from story, assuming that's Thimbletack?
We would then have to find a book with 'sweet' and 'revenge' either in the book/series title, cover object, possible author or character's name (I don't thing the others would apply -- setting, cover color)
So we'd put Thimbletack's Sweet Revenge under list your cocktail's name, but in the word section we would have 3 rows that say "thimbletack", "sweet", and "revenge."
Hopefully that made sense.

But I won’t give up! I just need to find a book for sweet and a book for revenge!
Thanks for your help Erin and Sam!

Do we invent cocktail names creatively, or do we use existing cocktail names that are genuine and creatively match books to it?

And long story short you can do either. Create your own cocktail names or use existing ones.
For the one I’ve made I think Sweet Revenge is a real cocktail or there’s some variation of it that really exists.

I think yours count according to the details listed here.
Part Two
After several cocktails, a lot of us tend to get a little creative - some more than others. Then again, a selection have shown their poetic prowess even before the challenge began and possibly without cocktail-influence.
Here is your chance to shine (again), now that you've drunken a multitude of cocktails: create your own cocktails!
You can use anywhere between two and six elements from your books to create a name for your cocktail along the lines of what the mods have done for the team names.
These are the elements you can choose to use from your books - any combination of these works:
- book title
- series title
- author name
- item on cover
- cover colour (no matter how much of it is found on the cover as long as one can actually detect it with the naked eye)
- name from the story (any character or named creature, you could even use the cat's name if you like)
- setting of the story (can be the entire setting, can be the setting of a single scene, whatever works for your creation)
The names of your cocktails do not have to be villain/troublemaker inspired. You could create a Miss Piggy's Pink Umbrella if you wanted. Or a Little Miss Sunshine's Bellini.

It’s a lot of effort so it’s a shame we don’t get more points for the cocktails!

What? I must have missed that somewhere.

When I posted the rest of the messages hadn't loaded, sorry. Im caught up now and see the rules. Yes, I think its alot more work for no points. I had some ideas and had posted but since deleted.

Also share your ideas! I’d love to hear them even if we don’t end up using them but we might use them!
I think creating cocktails is such a fun concept, my only issue with it is that it would be easier if we could get a word from something that happens in the book instead of just names and book cover colours etc. it limits you so makes it harder and probably not worth only 10 points per book.
I had an idea for another cocktail something like Character’s Black and Blue Punch with the character being anyone from any of our books that is particularly aggressive or something.
Then the black and blue can be cover colours and the punch can be title name, series name, or authors name.
If anyone actually wants to put books forward for that it could be fun, so please let me know! I don’t want to overextend myself because I already have the other cocktail so I’m just putting this idea out there and I wouldn’t be able to contribute to it sadly

I’m super happy with our progress, I think this mini challenge has rejuvenated me😂

Yes, absolutely fine :)

Also guys I’ve moved my book from 8 Blue over to claim the last Wild Draw 4 as it doesn’t have anything to fit the 8 part of the card but it does have a skip.
So that means the 8 Blue card is free if anyone wants to read towards it😊

Sorry I was so quiet this week. I had a work trip and didn't get much down time at all. So looking forward to the weekend and reading!

I could move this book to 8 blue if we think its blue enough?

Manually when checking the UNO Shelf, you can have it e..."
I am not sure what the glitch was with showing it, but when I sorted in alphabetical order it was there. Weird software bug I guess!

also nothing much to say but just checking in to say reading has been going well this month!

It was chosen for my next month's book club read and I had bought the audio on a sale the past few months, so hoping I like it

I’m now reading my 2 Green book then I’ll be hoping to finish my WD4 book.
@Michelle I think we should highlight the books we can use for cocktails on the spreadsheet or add some sort of indicator and then get creative because we probably already have a few books people have read that aren’t going towards part 1 of the mini

If anyone has already read a book that could match those please let us know or if you have one you are planning on reading that would fit. We’ve still got plenty of time!

The Duke’s Mislaid Bride’s Candlelit Grave
The Duke & I Michelle 17-Mar-2024

The cocktail names can always be changed if you guys don’t like them.
Please can everyone whose books are listed here confirm they started reading the book after the 15th March countdown timer thing for the mini

Names look great.
I did start after 15th. But any book started after Feb 1st can be counted. They just have to be finished after 15.03. Or why are you asking?

This is going to be a marathon reading weekend for me. I'm looking for shorter books I can read in a couple of hours that will fill in blanks.
My book last night will fit one of the 7's. I'll look at skip green and 1 red this morning and try to make them fit with openings for the mini.

Those are cute and creative names :)

Hope you have a fun marathon weekend, Michelle

We have a few unclaimed cards for March, though. Let's try to get those covered over the next week. I'll send an email to remind the team to check in and claim what is still pending.

Wild Draw 4 cards are no longer in play. You get OVERLOAD cards instead!
◈ What are Overload cards?
Overload cards are also cover colour cards, BUT they require different colours.
The colours you can use for Overload cards are the following:
- purple
- pink
- orange
- brown
- grey
- white
- black
You can only use each cover colour once . They are worth 30 points and don't have to fit any letters, only colours.

In any case we don’t need to plan for April right now because we’re still have a few spaces for March to focus on. Let’s get past those and then we can start dishing out the April cards
And yeah the April cards look scary like I might have to actually put effort in now😂

Some ideas:
For the president snow cocktail, we could maybe do a book with a president character, or snow on the cover, or the Hunger Games.
Mayday tuxedo - someone who goes to an event and wears a tuxedo, or maybe even published in May?
I'm looking for orange text on the cover right now for Annie Wilkes
Pennywise Fluffy Critter - need a red cover and maybe a clown, or fluffy animal on the cover?
Voldemort - snake on cover, snake in text maybe? Maybe an evil MC?

In any case we don’t need to plan for April right now beca..."
Oh yeah trust me, I have no desire to do any planning for April yet, definitely agree that will be a tough month and our most colors so far by far. At least it's more points but yikes

My last week will be working on finishing books I already have reserved here, which is plenty, or other challenges I have to sneak in - if read more will find a spot for them
Can go through my reserved books to see if that fit also if they have not been placed elsewhere
Edited - nevermind - see below
As for PENNYWISE, It's funny but one book I wanted to read this month initially but pushed back to next month now would work for this because of the balloons on the cover and the horror ties. No promises or reserving but will see what I have left at end of week if no one else takes.
Besides the red balloon you have the yellow raincoat look like with IT's Georgie and the clown vibe with their outfits.

It's on Kindle Unlimited if anyone else has time to cover in case too

Yeah the setup is confusing - I figured we would have multiple books for cocktail names as it said so there would be a space that says cocktail name by it. Word used you do the dropdown of the element like cover color, title, text, etc. We could just put the cocktail invented names by each books - they are to used for, maybe two to three per book?
