Lady Grace | 82 comments Mine is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. When I was in college I was the Arts and Entertainment editor for our college paper for a semester, and I got to interview her in person. She signed my copy!

Bella(✨❤️Hopeful Romantic❤️✨) | 251 comments The Selection series. Not signed. I got it on sale at Barnes and Noble (or Amazon. One of the two). But still an amazing book❤️

message 10: by Erica (new)

Erica Robbin (ericarobbin) | 82 comments I have some various signed books, including from U.S. presidents.

I love my little collection of Penguin clothbound classics and the paperback classics with the black strip at the bottom.

Early 20th century editions of book randomness...

But most cherished, even then, are my favorite childhood books.

One is called Morris the Moose Goes to School.

And the complete set of first printing of The Baby-Sitters Club. Notably I saved up so much money to pay for the set. They arrived each month in sets of 3 with swag and I felt so official!

Bible as well, one I have from childhood, is a Precious Moments Bible. Those sweet, tear-dropped eyes of a very special edition to me because it was unique with the illustrations inside.

Great questions! These are great prized books you all have! We are all sentimental and collectors.

Lynn (officerripley) | 281 comments The Lord of the Rings trilogy that came out in about 1965 in Ace Science Fiction paperbacks; IIRC, Tolkien himself got them to stop publishing since he didn't like the illustrations, preferred his own. (I actually prefer the Ace illustrations lol.)

Susanne | 102 comments A hardcover leatherbound anthology of Jules Verne stories that I got for my 21st, and my paperback LOTR trilogy which has been read so many times the pages are well worn and faded! Had to buy a replacement a few years ago so I coukd keep re-reading the stories. Also a full set of the Famous Five books.

message 14: by Raymond (new)

Raymond | 17 comments I am a Beatles afficianado. So, a first editon original hardcover autobiography by George Harrison: 'I. Me. Mine' 1980. Very interesting read....his wife / son have since expanded it, etc. etc. This original is better :-) IMHO

message 15: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments My 1975 edition of the German translation of Laird Koenig's "The Little Girl who lives down the Lane" and the old German translations of Enid Blyton's Famous Five series and Adventure series (before the publishers made them politically correct which I think is insane, because these books were written in the 1940's/1950's and nobody ever would intend to make "Heidi" by Johanna Spyry politically correct or Daniel Defies's "Robinson Crusoe").

I have a very old book from the 1960's called "The Beatles" by Hunter Davies and the bookmark is a letter from a friend from my Munich/Germany childhood days that she sent to me when she saw the Beatles at the Munich train station arriving.

I've read several great biographies by Melissa Mueller and Carol Ann Lee on Anne Frank and on her father Otto Frank which I can highly recommend.
Recently I've read "My Friend Anne Frank" by Hannah Pick-Goslar which was excellent.
Especially for somebody like me whose native language is not English.

Cheers,

Chrissie

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 120 comments When I was in the hospital, there was a really kind nurse who kept having me as her patient. I was stuck there for I think eleven days and we talked about Harry Potter a lot. One day she gave me a copy of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince that was signed by the illustrator so that's definitely my most prized book

Carol Lynn | 5 comments Midnight Magic by Avi, I showed up to a signing event and everyone else had read a different book by him. He laughed when he saw it and told twelve-year-old me that she was smart and cheeky.

message 32: by Tamara (new)

Tamara (tamsreadneats) | 13 comments It's a date again by Jeneva Rose. I haven't read it yet but it's my first signed book. She was in my town for a book convention and I couldn't attend. She signed books at my local target but I was stuck at work and would get out when the target closed. My husband went to go get it for me as a surprise and when I got home I screamed from excitement. I posted about it on my IG book account and she reposted it and gave my husband props. Best day ever and it's made me more excited to read the book.

luckykarmatx Heidi

That would be Heidi. It was my first hardcover in English, gifted to me by someone who was very special to me. The book was really cute and the gift itself has alot of meaning for me, so that's my most cherished book.

message 34: by sarah (new)

sarah | 288 comments First book that comes to mind THE THREE TREES by Elwell Hunt. This book hit my spirit straight to the heart, I cried and felt so much love and warmth deep in my soul after reading this book. I know this might sound a little exaggerated but that is truly how I felt when I read it, I did a small lesson plan for a group of children and even then I felt so much emotion I had to give myself a moment to go forward. I hope you read it and I realize it may not be for you what it is for me but its still a good book. enjoy ☺

Molly-Sue | 5 comments Not as impressive as everyone else hehe, but Graceling by Kristen Cashore - my first “big girl” book that I stole from my mom, and is what got me into reading and started my hobby

message 36: by jb-rand (new)

jb-rand my grandfather gave me his copy of "has man a future" by Bertrand Russell. it was the last time we talked before he died. it was bleak reading for a teenaged but it was influential for me and it was a unique moment of connecting between us
