Hannah | 729 comments I listened to this on audio 3 years ago. I loved it but it whizzed past quite quickly and so I feel like I missed a lot and don't remember much other than the basic premise. I've got a print copy which I'm looking forward to moving through at a slower pace with everyone :)

do you remember if you liked the narrator? I may alternate between audio and physical book, but audios are so damned expensive, I am being more thoughtful about them than I once was.

I know what you mean, I don't know how they justify the purchase prices of audiobooks. I'm very picky about narrators and loved this one other than the pacing issue-but that's just me

Lindsey | 303 comments Carol - do you have Libby or Hoopla? I found this one on audio through Libby (through my local library).

I can’t bring myself to buy audiobooks, only physical copies.

I do but haven’t looked into it. Totally forgot it exists. I’ll make myself explore this week. Thanks for the nudge.

I love a book with a map. A map gets 3 stars out if the gate.

Jen R. (rosetung) | 735 comments I'm a bit more than halfway through the book. I'm finding it entertaining for the most part, except, among the many sad early life memories, the sexual assault episodes were particularly unsettling, so here's my trigger warning for future readers. I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised as it's about a prostitute in Istanbul.
Anyway, while I'm finding the story and writing very readable and rather likable, I think I'm not as smitten as others, so far at least. I'm wondering if I'm in the camp of readers who would like only/more her early work.

Sonia Johnson | 109 comments Just started this and about a quarter in. It is the first book I have read from her, and has been on my shelves for two years. Thank you for giving Elif Shafak this focus and giving me the impetus to read it. I am loving her writing, particularly the way she creates the sense of place. I really feel immersed in the story. I don't see this as a quick read as I want to savour the story.
