Kiki, you're right, I actually had to give in last year and buy a portable air conditioner because it's getting so hot and my fans can't cut it anymore.

Layers would be impractical this time of year - although I did see someone wearing a winter coat yesterday.
My goodness! I can't imagine even one person with a winter coat on in this heat! I wonder why they were wearing a coat?
Now some of the summer school classes have had to be cancelled because the buildings don't have air con.
Orange Juice tastes so good on a hot, sweaty day.
Pineapple juice can be quite refreshing too.
Right now, I am thinking of pouring myself a big glass of strawberry-lemonade.
Suddenly, I am craving a large glass of just plain lemonade.
I'll do Q, then we can continue with T.Quintessential summer drinks, for sure.
They all taste wonderful, but nothing quenches thirst and hydrates like water.
Tea is also a great drink, if it iced tea with no sugar added.

Very good idea would be to make some sun tea in this hot weather!
Water, as Kiki suggested, quenches the thirst, hydrates, and has the added bonus of not staining your teeth.
EXcellent idea, Laura, to make sun tea; I used to make that all the time.
You're lucky, Emily, I love sun tea, but have to stick to caffeine free drinks.
Zero tolerance for gluten is my problem.
Avoid gluten completely if that is the case .

Choco chip biscuits and marble cookies are my favorite.
Dunking isn't my thing. I never dunk my cookies, doughnuts, etc., in anything.
Ever try a deep-fried Mars chocolate bar?
Fried candy bars doesn't tickle my fancy.

Ice cream at any time is my favorite treat.
Judging by the comments, quite a few people have a sweet tooth.
Kind of seems that way, Grace. I know I do, and an addiction to sweets is very hard to break.

Many don't have a sweet tooth, but just know there are times a dessert would hit the spot.
Not gonna argue with you there, as I usually prefer salty snacks; however, I do get that craving for something sweet at times, especially lately.
On ordinary days, I prefer salty snacks too, but when it is hot, ice cream hits the spot.
Popularity-wise in terms of ice cream flavours, my guess is that chocolate is at the top, but I LOVE vanilla.
Rum raisin flavour not so much, probably.
Tried Mango Sorbet and it tasted great!
Unique flavors are what all the ice cream manufacturers are looking for, especially Ben and Jerry's and Jeni's.
Variety is the spice of life, I think the saying goes.

Xocai Dark Chocolate Cake sounds like heaven to me.
Yesterday, I had gluten-free lemon cookies and they were very tasty.
Zero gluten desserts are also the way I have to travel!
Being a Jane Austen fan, I will be going to the Jane Austen annual conference being held in Cleveland in October.
Cleveland was a city that I really enjoyed visiting, but sadly only for a few hours.
Dartmouth was a college I considered, but ultimately decided against.
Emily, the Jane Austen conference sounds like fun, and it made me think that there seems to be a conference for a wide array of interests one may have.
