ohmmm so heres my story ig triggers r drug abuse (js mentioned) and death, cancer?? so ya its called 'An Unexpected Encounter' its a short story i wrote for my ELAR so ignore the abundance of idioms. And please give me honest feedback :)
Dash hasn't been able to laugh since his wife died. Jessica had been the best thing to happen to him. Before he met her he had a huge drug addiction that was so bad he was often rushed to the ER and shoved into ORs for falling down stairs or tripping in the middle of a crosswalk. After cancer took her life he spent many months cooped up in his house itching for her presence, only going out when needed. Or rather when he felt the need for something to calm him, his addiction had come back to haunt him once more. In the beginning it was just a trump card, something important to pull out when he really needed to get Jessica off his mind. Drugs helped him to beat around the bush, and to ignore how much it still hurt after 2 years. Dash only crosses the bridge when he gets there. He despises talking about the matter and mouths off anyone who asks about it. But today was different, he was going to talk about it. He was handing himself an olive branch, forcing himself to sit in a support group to work out and make peace with himself. When he arrived his heart climbed up into his throat threatening to suffocate him as he strode through the doors. He was about to turn away when he saw something. Jessica. His heart stuttered, he ran toward her as she disappeared around a corner. “I'll find you” he muttered putting his money where his mouth was, he went to find her, as he rounded the corner into the street he saw her crossing past a bus stop. His mouth went dry as he ran after her. When Dash faced the cross walk she had just walked across, he stopped only to see if there were cars. He couldn't tell, his vision was blurred, Dash stumbled across the road, then he heard a loud blaring horn very close by. He was too late though, a train plowed straight into him only giving him enough time to cry out momentarily, his eyes blurred red and green and orange- Then all went black.
