The first few chapters make this book feel large and open, like a grand adventure is just beginning. I look forward to learning about Damon's life as we move forward.

12 Chapters in and I'm already loving this kid. He is smart, witty, and observant. I so enjoy how he describes the people that move in and out of his life. It feels like an old friend telling me a story of how we grew up together. I'm sure it will get harder on Demon, but I really want things to work out for him. I think I'm heading for heartbreak.

Chapter 15 &16.... if the first 14 chapters made you feel bad for Damon, the next two will be like a kick in the gut. I knew something had to be coming and with so much story left, I have to wonder how much worse will it get for the poor kid. I don't want to put the book down, but I don't know if I'm ready for more.

Demon just accepts whatever comes his way and is able to rationalize it somehow as natural. I am so enjoying the story even though it keeps getting darker. I find myself reflecting on the times I was so judgmental of strangers, never knowing what had happened in their lives to lead them to that point. I think about how good I've had it in my life and how I handled the rough times. I love a book that makes me think about my core beliefs and reflect on my character.

Things are changing for Demon and I am thoroughly enjoying this read. I never read David Copperfield, but I did look it over this weekend. I hope Demons life can follow the trajectory as Copperfield's did. Should finish up this week even though I would like it to last a little longer.

Finished it up today. What can I say? This is an incredible book. I loved the journey. It was painful at times and inspiring at others. I find myself thinking of some very good friends from my past, people that struggled with addiction and self image. I enjoyed this one from the first page to the last. Emotional and moving.
