[BWF] Call of the Herald by Brian Rathbone ★★

I do enjoy the chosen one trope and while this novel begins rather interestingly, I found it jarring how the protagonist suddenly changed in 'character'. She was just an ordinary farm girl being bullied at school until something extraordinary happened and things changed for her. It was said that she needs to adopt and therefore, channel being the Herald but still, it was too much too sudden and I struggled with believing. Otherwise, it was a fun fast-paced adventure. And I love the magic system with references to energy around and channelling them. I don't find myself curious enough for book 2, though, so that's it for now for me.
