I really liked this book, but some parts were challenging to get through. I thought the characters were realistic with all of the conflicting emotions that come with being a human. Some of the setup was a little predictable, but other parts left me completely unprepared. 4 stars from me.

That sounds like a good twist book. Those are always interesting. Well done!

Another delightful experience with Persuasion that offered lots of insights into the novel. Always loved this cover, Cassandra's drawing of her sister, Jane!

I think there was a lot of potential in this novel, but I really struggled to connect with the characters.

Roy was the character I most empathized with. The miscarriage of justice he suffered impacted him greatly and even when I struggled to like him due to his choices, I understood where he was coming from. I struggled to connect with either Celestial or Dre. While Roy's incarceration impacted both of them, I felt as though they were cowardly in how they dealt with everything.

I'm bummed that they didn't go past this arc.
