Hello Readers. This topic collects suggestions for the 6-month READ-A-LONG Book program, specifically from March to end of August 2024. The program is defined HERE. Top 4 books will be submitted for the poll.

Books that qualify for this category:

1. Must have a minimum of 800 pages but can be any genre, either classic or modern.

2. Have not been previously read by this group. Previously read books can be nominated in the Bookshelf Catch-Up thread. See the group's Bookshelf for previously read books.

3. Be reasonably well-read, with at least 50,000 ratings, to fit the "Everyone Has Read This but Me" claim.

Only one nomination is allowed per person, per category. If you nominate more than one book only your first nomination will be added toward the tracking post. Please continue to second as many nominations that interest you!

Page numbers are now required for every nomination. To find out how many pages a book has, go to the book's page on Goodreads. Look under the section titled "GET A COPY" and above the book's ISBN number.

Nominations end on January 16.

Lina, so sorry, but Anna Karenina is already on our bookshelf, so cannot be nominated here, but you can suggest it in the Catch-up topic. Any other book you'd like to suggest instead?

message 9: by Lina (last edited Jan 01, 2024 10:25AM) (new)

Lina | 182 comments I just saw that as well, sorry! And I will think about it. (I find Anna Karenina a bit long for the one-month suggestions in the Catch-up topic though - maybe I will suggest it as a buddy read at some point)

No, most of the long books I would like to nominate have been read previously. Have y'all considered allowing the long books that have been previously read to be eligible for this feed since it's a 6-month reading?

Thank you for your suggestion, Rebecca. The moderator team discussed the idea and decided that with only 8 long-reads to-date, it's early to start re-reading them. But if you want a longer-duration read, there's the Buddy Read that you could organize. Here's the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
