The competition begins underneath the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge, which crosses the Ohio River between Louisville, Kentucky and Jeffersonville, Indiana. This bridge serves as the start and finish line. The steamboats race (at a speedy 7 mph) to Six Mile Island, where they turn around to return to the bridge.
In 2008, a series of tasks were introduced. A steamboat crew must perform these tasks for points. The boat with the most points after the race is declared the winner.

Gather together a talented crew, find a sturdy steamboat (don't forget to give it an awesome name), invite family and friends on board, and prepare to have a marvelous time.

This bridge serves as the start and finish line. The steamboats race (at a speedy 7 mph) to Six Mile Island, where they turn around to return to the bridge.
In 2008, a series of tasks were introduced. A steamboat crew must perform these tasks for points. The boat with the most points after the race is declared the winner.
