Jacqui | 11 comments Hello 😁 I'm Jacqui, from Brighton and Hove on the south coast of England.
I love reading, but over the past few (too many) years reading has not been happening! Someone told me about the Goodreads challenge, and it has been just the spark that I needed to make room for me, and doing something that I love again.

I enjoy historical romance, fantasy, and detective stories. I have pledged to read 40 books this year, and have got off to a fighting start having just finished my 6th - five of my own (3 historical romance, 1 Harlan Coben, 1 Terry Pratchett), and one (the second in the Starfell series) because I read to my 10yr old daughter every bed time.

I've joined this community to make contact with other lovely reading people, and so that the emailed digest from it will act as a 'have you been reading?' reminder!

message 107: by Jupiter (new)

Jupiter (ishouldbewriting) | 40 comments Hi! I'm Jupiter! I'm from Texas, an avid reader but just coming back to goodreads :D. I genre-hop a lot, but read a lot of mystery, sff, and contemporary/literary, and I'm trying to read more nonfiction this year as well. I've read 100+ books yearly the last few years, but my main goal this year is to read more books from my physical tbr (because I've switched to reading a lot more digital and audiobooks, but have kept buying hard copy books like it's 2003 and have amassed, uh. A stack.) So I'm shooting for 50 hard copy books this year and seeing how it goes :D

Hey Jupiter! It's fantastic to have you back on Goodreads, diving into the world of books once more! 🎉 Genre-hopping is always an exciting literary adventure, and your love for mystery, SFF, contemporary/literary, and venturing into nonfiction this year adds a wonderful flavor to your reading journey.

A hundred books yearly? Impressive! 📖 But tackling that physical TBR sounds like a fantastic goal—50 hard copy books this year, let's conquer that stack together! Here's to rediscovering the joy of holding a book in your hands. 📚🌵 Excited to have you here, Jupiter! Happy reading! 😊 PS. We have a yearly clear the shelves challenge if you want to really tackle some books. Let me know if you need help finding it.

I thought a few challenges would help me to stay on track and read more rather than spending so much of my free time on social media. Let's see!

Christina Hi, I’m Christina and I’m from Midcoast Maine USA.
I enjoy reading literary fiction, classics and thriller/mysteries but I’ve been dabbling in new genres lately.

I found this group on another GR friends list of groups. I am hoping to read 100 books in 2024.

message 115: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Hi all! I'm Ashley and I'm from the Netherlands.
I devoured books as a child, but unfortunately I unknowingly stopped doing so when I started working. But during my pregnancy, I decided to pick up reading again. And especially to re-read all the books I have.
So since January 2021, I started the challenge of reading at least one book a month. So far, I am easily exceeding that.

I read a bit of everything, but my preference is fantasy and historical fiction. But as long as a story appeals to me, I'll read anything.

I'm going to do my best to be sociably active, because what I do miss around me are book friends. But I still want to be forgetful sometimes when it comes to social participation.... Oops! Hahaha!

message 116: by Honey (new)

Honey Duenas | 1 comments Hello I’m daises and I’m from Nebraska
I’m mostly into romance, historical fiction, and murder mysteries but I like reading different books to expand my library.
I never knew you can join groups on good reads so I thought this one would be a good start for me.
My reading goal is to read 40-50 books this year.

message 117: by Arzoo (new)

Arzoo Sareen | 4 comments Hi! I'm Arzoo, from India
Preferred genres: Fantasy, Mystery, thriller, historical fiction, sci-fi...
I've been part of the group for a while but never actually explored it, took a resolution this year to read more and be more active on goodreads.
As far as I remember, I stumbled upon the group while searching for reading challenges in 2022.

For this year my goal is 24books.
:)

message 118: by Nav (new)

Nav | 2 comments Hi Everyone,

- Where are you from?
Im from Canada.
- What kinds of books do you like to read?
I primarily read romance books. But Sometimes I like to read thrillers/suspense, or adventure novels. But my favorite go-to genre are family epics/romantic epics.

- How did you find our group?
It came up under groups, when I searched "Buddy Reads"

- What's your reading goal?
It's pretty low for this year. I'd say my goal is about 2 books. My mental health illness makes it difficult to want to read at times, but I'm hoping to read at least 2 books this year.
And I'm hoping to do plenty of buddy reads, thats the biggest reason I joined this group, because it seems to have an active buddy reads area.

Nice to meet you all :)
Nav

Eva (hordekitten) | 7 comments Hi!! Well, my name's Eva, but don't call me that hahaha, I prefer Ivy. My pronouns are She/They and I'm 27 years old. I have no money and no prospects. I'm already a burden to my parents, and I'm frightened.
My favorite author is Rick Riordan , my favorite book is The Lightning Thief ( I have read it like 25 times, and the pages are broken) and I'm from Spain without the S (but seriously, I'm a Spaniard).
I majored in English and literature, and I'm currently doing postgraduate on film and Tv writing, so I'm hoping one day I can adapt your favorite book to the screen! Fingers crossed,
My favorite food is probably pasta with veggies, but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE mac and cheese.
I'm trying to eat healthier, go to the gym and read more. I am an only child, and I'm also half orphan, which makes me half batman , or half disney princess, you choose.
I have ADHD, and I'm queer.
I check all the boxes XD
HMU if you have any questions

Debbie Hello all, I'm Debbie, and I live in the Chicago suburbs. I am getting back into reading as a form of self-care. I love books in general and don't have a specific genre. I am reading through the 1001 books you should read before you die, and it can sometimes be a chore. So after I finish one, I take a break and read other books. My goal for this year is 12 books; I am already halfway there due to insomnia and a few extremely light reads (including some Dr. Seuss).

I love a book that you simply cannot wait to get up and dive into, one that occupies your thoughts while cooking, while driving, or purely can't get it off your mind. I am not tethered to one particular genre, I am open to anything.
I am not sure if any of you have read the 8 book series, "The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley". I read those last year and must say they are currently on my top list of good reads. Open to all suggestions. I am heading to my local bookstore as I have heard "The Things we leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarror" is excellent. I am excited to share my love of books with others.
