We are off to a great start in March! Out of the gates and one card done!I think the one challenge we might have (?) is our reverses. We have 11 this month. If you see one on the tracker that is one you've read, go ahead and put your name on the reverse section.

I was in a car accident a little over a week ago and I'm still recuperating. So, I've been reading a lot to get my mind off the pain and the fact that I totaled my car that I just paid off last month and have to buy a new one. So, if you see me reading a lot, it's due to that. I'm hoping in the next few weeks to be back to normal activities and being out and about more and my reading will taper off. Bear with me as I'm on some pain meds and that mixed with my adhd makes me have some brain fog with putting things into the tracker and into the right shelves.

Hope the pain meds work and that you heal quickly and well. Reading is a good strategy for changing focus. :)

Oh my gosh, Gwen, I am so sorry about your accident and car! I hope your recovery period goes smoothly and you’re 100% soon. Life’s ups and downs can sure be difficult at times. Hopefully you’ll get some really good books read! 😊

We are just coming out of another cold snap. The weekend is supposed to warm up and hopefully we will see the sun too. I have The Rose Code on hold at the library and it should be ready Monday. I'm looking forward to diving into it. I haven't picked up historical fiction in ages.
I'll take a look for some V's. Those sevens do seem tricky.

We're having a warm period, so with sun and melting snow and ice it feels very much like spring. :) Though spring is always a trickster here and there's a risk of minor or major snowfalls on and off until May.Reading is going well, and I've been reading about four books at once. As they're all so far somewhere between very good and decent, I'm satisfied. Will keep an eye out for any Vs.

Gwen is slaying the sevens! There is a series with a title of "A Very.." bad, terrible, punchable....that have just about defeated the sevens.

I hope to read Solito (book club is this Wednesday...) this weekend and finish up a couple more. I just started The Last Kingdom last night - I saw it on Ingeborg's shelf. It looks like it's going to be a page turner!

The March mini has been posted!Your books can be started at any time after February 1, but cannot be finished before March 15 (Friday) at 9:00 UTC. We have between March 15 - April 1 to finish.
There are many opportunities here! We can finish part one and then pick away at other cocktails that we make up.

Cover colours need to be >50%. The examples we have give are just that, examples and you do not need to read something from the examples given. Feel free to get creative! The book needs to make sense for each cocktail but for the rest, you are given free hand to make your books fit.
◈ Every book read is worth 10 points.
◈ Each book can be used for one task only.
◈ If your team reads for all 30 tasks, you get 30 points as bonus.
Part Two
After several cocktails, a lot of us tend to get a little creative - some more than others. Then again, a selection have shown their poetic prowess even before the challenge began and possibly without cocktail-influence.
Here is your chance to shine (again), now that you've drunken a multitude of cocktails: create your own cocktails!
You can use anywhere between two and six elements from your books to create a name for your cocktail along the lines of what the mods have done for the team names.
These are the elements you can choose to use from your books - any combination of these works:
- book title
- series title
- author name
- item on cover
- cover colour (no matter how much of it is found on the cover as long as one can actually detect it with the naked eye)
- name from the story (any character or named creature, you could even use the cat's name if you like)
- setting of the story (can be the entire setting, can be the setting of a single scene, whatever works for your creation)
The names of your cocktails do not have to be villain/troublemaker inspired. You could create a Miss Piggy's Pink Umbrella if you wanted. Or a Little Miss Sunshine's Bellini.
◈ Every book read is worth 10 points.
◈ Each book can only be used once for the mini challenge.
◈ No bonus points for completing this part as it is supposed to be fun. No pressure.
The usual:
◈ Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (Feb 1).
◈ Books need to be finished after the start of this mini challenge on March 15, 9am UTC (Countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...) and before April 1 at 9am UTC (when the April UNO month begins).
◈ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books from what you are claiming for your UNO hands.
◈ The usual book length rules apply.
◈ Team spreadsheets will be updated with a mini challenge tab so that you can track your books and claim your points.
Tomorrow at 9:00 UTC begins our March mini! I have put a few ideas on our tracking sheet for some of the cocktails. We can get creative too for Part 2, and we don't have to finish part 1 before we go with part 2!I have a question out to the captain's group about some of the mini, so I'll try to add more once I hear an answer.
If you have some ideas, feel free to put them on the spreadsheet.

The mini looks fun! I've tried to fit my current reads to some tasks.
Added book with green cover for task 23 in the mini, but it works for task 28 too, so I just put that qualifier in the description. Feel free to put it wherever it's most needed. :)

I'm thinking about this Smaug's Sunrise - should it have some "fire" in it somehow? Or a golden color for the book cover?

and I was thinking it might work for the mini - either for Agent Smith's Margerita (the MC is a special forces guy who operates undercover in Afghanistan) or for Phantom of the Opera's Love Potion (it is MPG Romance). What do you think?

I'm not sure that Rue fits this one - I don't think the dress would count for red @ Gwen - but I definitely think we can use the character's name in a drink.

It’s for the cocktail name. The rules said it could be an item from the cover. I communed that with the character name.

I ran it through Tineye, and it says 66% orange.

I see in the official spreadsheet that we're only missing a few coloured cards, is that correct? So now it's all about filling up the mini?I'm leaving for our cabin up in the mountains tomorrow, for a few days for the Easter holiday. That's a location with quite bad 4G access, so I'm planning what books to bring :D

I added another cocktail, Golden Firefly, for my books that I added for reverse on the main challenge. (Golden Compass and Firefly Lane).I also added a few novellas I'm going to be reading today into the tracker for the mini-challenge. Can we verify that the cover writing doesn't have to be 100% that color? I double checked other team's trackers and all of them are only using 1-2 words as being okay for the font cover color.

I just wanted to let you know that I'll finish The Coworker in time. My buddy read is starting now ;-)Also, I'm not entirely sure about how this month's mini works lol But I finished two more books, one with fire on the cover
in case that's helpful.
If you put the one with fire under the orange Jojo Moyes one I have a book called the real glow up im reading and we can call it the orange fire glow.
