I don't think we can use the setting on this one. The book has to be mostly set in a location. It sounds like, with a road trip involved, the book moves around too much to have a setting we can use.

- Have an author's first name or surname starting with F, I, N or D
- Have a black (>50%) cover
- Have black writing on the cover (and no other text with a different colour)
Take a seat, enjoy your stay
Read up to 5 books for each of the following categories. Words related to them must be found either in text or title:
- Spirits (e.g., vodka, rum, gin, whiskey, tequila)
- Mixers (e.g., soda water, tonic water, fruit juices)
- Fruit (e.g., lemon, lime, cherries)
- Herbs and Spices (e.g., mint leaves, basil, cinnamon sticks)
◈ Every book read is worth 10 points.
◈ Each book can be used for one task only.
◈ If your team reads for all 40 tasks, you get 30 points as bonus.
◈ You do not have to have a unique item for each task (so you can use two different books with lemon in the text for "fruit")
◈ The examples given for words are just examples. Other words that fit the category (e.g. orange for fruit) are fine
◈ Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (Feb 1)
◈ Books need to be finished after the start of this mini challenge on Feb 14, 9am UTC (countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...) and before March 1 at 9am UTC (when the March UNO month begins).
◈ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books from what you are claiming for your UNO hands
◈ The usual book length rules apply
My question is, do these covers look at least 50% black to everyone?
Also, as you begin to search you will probably discover how difficult it is to find book covers with only black text!
The following drinks count as Spirits:- Rum
- Whiskey
- Brandy / Cognac
- Vodka
- Tequila
- Gin
- Pastis
- Liqueur
- Sambuca
- Maraschino
Wine, champagne, beer won't count.
Mixers can be:
- soda / carbonated / sparkling water
- club soda
- tonic (water)
- juice / fruit juice
- ginger beer / ginger ale
- coke
- syrup
- honey
Words of direction: for example
- East, West, North, South
- Left, right
- up, down, across, under, over, along, past, around, forward, front, behind, after, back, between
Rule of thumb for direction is: would you use it when giving directions to a location? If yes, it works.
My current audiobook just mentioned Thyme and Rosemary. I had to google because I don’t really drink much, but apparently Rosemary is used in some cocktails, so that’s one herb taken care of because I won’t finish before tomorrow.

Iron Flame won't work because of the yellow author name. It has to be all black. Which isn't easy! I'll go check the captain's group and copy over for here some of the books that have been suggested there.

That would work for the Herb or for lemonade as a Mixer.

I just wanted to quickly update everyone, just in case you've peeked at the spreadsheet and noticed that we only have 2 hands completed!We have many more books read/cards completed than just those 2 hands! We have 3 hands that each just need one color cover book completed. We have another hand that needs 2 color cards completed.
We actually only have 35 cards left to be read for!
For the mini-challenge, out of 40 tasks, we have completed 9 of them in just 3 days!
We're looking good to finish all of our cards as well as the mini-challenge this month!
