I am definitely in for this. I need to work out which editions I can get my hands on and if I go between audio and a physical book. Will need to go and see what the narrator is like....
I've been meaning to continue the series and at this point it's been nearly 3 years... so a reread would probably be good before I get to Words of Radience!
I've never done a buddy read or a Weighty Tome, but I own a copy of this book I've been putting off reading because it's such a doorstop, so count me in.
Totally in for this one! And I WILL read it this year and not next year as I so often do with the weighty tomes :-p
I went and searched my kindle and found that I have books 1, 2 & 4 in the series....I will give this a try, normally not my type of book to read but I do enjoy watching YouTube Videos of the author talking about his books and writing....
I'm so conflicted about joining for this. I still have Mistborn trilogy to finish and then the one that follows. But I have the first book in the series.
I think I'll read this year, since I now own it. I also own the next two, so probably those as well. I'm pretty sure I'll like it, but at what cost. I will soo curse myself when I reach the end because the story is so far from finished :(What has Sanderson said the timeline is? 10 books and a finish in 2030?

However, I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that it's more like 2 series of 5 books so the 5th book, which will be out next year, is kind of like a series conclusion.
The book is in 5 parts so it seems to work perfectly for the reading schedule.! This is based off a kindle so hard to tell, but based on % it seems most parts are similar in size. Someone with a paperback may be able to confirm

Part Five: The Silence Above and Epilogue
Here's what I've got with the paperback (actual pages, not counting end pages):Prelude, Prologue, Part One: 166 pages
Part Two: 269 pages
Part Three: 267 pages
Part Four: 238
Part 5, Epilogue: 37 pages
If we lump Part 5 and epilogue in with Part 4, we only have four sections to break easily. Unless we take more breaks. Read Jan/Feb, break for March, read April/May, break for June, read for July/Aug, break for September, read Oct/Nov - finish early?Or start in February to finish in December.
I’m up for a reread of this one. I loved it at the time but need to reread it before attempting book 2.
Ah, doesn't matter. A short part for the end of the year when we're all busily trying to finish up all remaining challenges, might be just as well ;-)
Some will finish early anyway, and some on the last day, no matter how long or short sections are hehe.

I wondered about that too, so I'm fine with whatever. I'm actually kind of hoping that I get super into it and finish early. But yeah, so far, I've only been in that *other* category Sammy mentions...😅
I've had this heavy book on my bookshelf for awhile and this seems the perfect way to tackle it! Thanks 😊
I am finally finished with my Exams around the middle of February so I'm looking forward to getting started then and relax a little
I went looking for this book in thrift shops and second hand booksellers and couldnt find it. I was told its very rare to find a Brandon Sanderson in a second hand store. I then looked on the internet and i ended up ordering on Abebooks the 2 volume set from a bookseller in Ireland. Estimate for delivery is mid March. Cant wait to get started.
this is perfect! I just decided to use this for a reading prompt of picking a book that's been on my TBR the longest. Breaking it up seems like a great way to tackle it! My paperback copy is over 1200 pages and I was pretty daunted.
the break up is working great! I just finished the January/February reading. :) It is a very good book so far!
I haven't start yet as I have some other chunksters on the go which I am fitting in between UNO. But I will definitely get into this over the next month or so and catch up!!
March has begun!
If reading to schedule, you should now be starting
Part Two: The Illuminating Storms

Just a few days ago I saw the book on my pile and thought "well, oops! You were supposed to have started that at least!"
Soon... hehe
Soon... hehe

I think this is my worst ever performance. I know it is May and a break month, but I'm yet to even start. AH!
I'll put this on my list to start with Book Games. I just read so many small books with UNO that this went on the backburner with some others

I'm with you, Karen. But I have been clinging to the excuse of "I always meant to count it for Book Games(TT)." ;)
I keep forgetting about it, argh!
I need to go grab the book from the pile and put it in front of my nose!

You know, E, actually it was you who recommended me this book while we were doing the Sinful TT VII. Maybe it's because we were Team Sloth that we find it so hard to get to it finally. 🤭😉
I recommended it?! I can't even remember that. Are you sure? Since I haven't even read it o.O
I did love his first book in the Mistborn trilogy however, and then promptly did not continue, which I need to remedy.

Well, you recommended Sanderson to me for sure. :) And maybe mentioned that you want to read this, too (?). Something along that line.;)

Over in the Cleaning out the closet challenge in 2018 we started talking...
Your know those MASSIVE books that you want to read, but everything else gets in the way?
Well we decided that perhaps the best way to tackle this problem is to pick a book and read it together over a year. So 2019 was the year of Les Misérables, 2020 was War and Peace, 2021 Gone with the Wind, 2022 Pillars of the Earth and 2023 Ship of Magic!
After nominating books and then voting for 2024, the winner is The Way of Kings!
Anyone is welcome to join. This is essentially an extremely long buddy read :)
There is a reading schedule below to show which chapters to read over a two month period and we will also have two break months ; meaning the read will last the whole year.
To participate, all you need to do is come on over and give your thoughts for the section you are reading. Please make it clear which section you are referring to, and if you are reading ahead of the schedule, put your comments in spoiler tags.
c.800 pages? 35+ hours of audio?! Meh! We got this! Let the Reading Begin!
