It’s okay so u dont think u can tell it’s yellow in background?

I checked in the captain's color thread, and even though the background is probably yellow, we have to be able to see 50% of yellow for it to count. But there are plenty of places that can go (just from the title and blurb, it can fit 3, 4, 6, 8, skip), so it's a great choice.

ETA: I am sorry, but I can't find which book you're using for Blue 4. Can you put it on the spreadsheet or list it here?

Thanks!

Melissa, I'll definitely take the quote and page number here or on the spread sheet--I'm going to use my coriander for herb.

Is has to be what is shown as yellow on the cover not what is assumed to be yellow. I agree that the background of the guy wasn’t there would be enough but with the guy there it cuts into the yellow and makes it as not enough. 😕

Melissa | 1347 comments I finished my last book for this round.

The Tracking spreadsheet had my books switched. The Lost Hours is the one that had Co-Cola in it and The Magnolia Palace has garlic. I’ve fixed it on the spreadsheet and highlighted both in the pink.

message 228: by Kirsten (last edited Feb 28, 2024 07:03AM) (new)

Kirsten | 268 comments Thanks for the fix, Melis. I don’t know what happened, but I appreciate your checking.

Kat, if you mean the color and wild draw 4 cards, that’s up to date and there several unclaimed. In addition to those, we have another ~85 books needed, so there’s plenty left!

I tend to claim a bunch of color cards because I like to plan and I read pretty fast. But if someone wants a color I’ve claimed, just say so. I’ll move my book to a non-color spot. We need them all, and pretty much every book can count somewhere.

Lisa and I tend to read a lot of the same books, so we’ve filled in several reverse cards because they’re pretty easy for us. But there are several reverses left and it’s pretty easy to compare books with a teammate. Ask if you’d like instructions.

If I haven’t answered your questions or you have others, just ask.

We had an amazing month, and I’m excited for March.

Anything started in Feb, but completed in March can be used for March, so if you think that the final chapter or whatever will be read after the countdown below ends, add it to March and we can use it there.

Hello, cardsharks!

I am a little late with the weekly update this week. I've been at a conference since Thursday, and I'm just now able to sit down and check my computer.

We are in FANTASTIC shape, friends! Just over a week into the March, and we've filled in 1/3 of our hands. Keep reading! And the mini is just around the corner (I can't wait).

Keep your eyes out for five/I and 7/V books. We have 9 of each this month (about double what we had last month), and series with that high number as well as Is and Vs are pretty hard to find. I have faith in us, but I want to bring it to your attention.

I've reconciled all the read books with your Uno shelf. Thanks for tracking things.

It's been fun hearing about your jury duty, Melissa. But the bad new is that I agree there's not enough red (not 50%) for that to count. I can take it to the captain's group for an official ruling if you like.

Has anyone read anything especially good? I read The Salt Grows Heavy and it was amazing. But I admit it might not be for everyone--it's about a mermaid (the scary kind) and a plague doctor and 3 surgeons who take body parts from feral children to become immortal, and then basically everyone dies. If you like horror, this is the book for you (also super short). I also read a bunch of fic from Archive of our Own, and Written by the Victors was also fantastic--lots of different kinds of writing in it, and a bit of a love story.

I hope your reading week was as awesome as mine. Thanks for playing!
