Aloha,I have a few mental illness and chronic health. This happen in May at Goodreads this year. One group kicked me out for my mental illness and my disabilites( I have learning disabilites, dsylexia, and lisp). Anyway, I try to explain. That did not go well. I even email Goodreads about the treatment. I was advised that this group can do what it wants. I still have the emails.
I have barley particapte in any groups since then. The ones I belong to, I sit on the side line. I am hoping to join this group and not be stigma again. If you do not understand me, please let me know and I will better explain it.
Mahalo for let me join!
Blessings,
A Gal Who is Sick of Being Judged

Hi there - and welcome to the group! I am sorry you have had such a hard time elsewhere, and hope you find here a place you can feel safe and at your ease.
I would be very happy if you wanted to follow/friend me on here. I am coauthor with my best friend of a book "High Tide, Low Tide: The Caring Friend's Guide to Bipolar Disorder," and we both recognise how important it is to feel able to share and talk about things without feeling judged.

Hey RM, sorry to hear you had that experience and that Goodreads was so unhelpful about it. Welcome to the group, I hope you'll be a bit happier here, we certainly don't think any less of you because of your disabilities. Get involved as much it as little as you'd like :)

Hi, everyone. New member and pleased to find a group that is for those who suffer from mental health issues. I have been depressed for a long, long time now. I have clinical depression and anxiety, the help I have received has never been great, perhaps until fairly recently. I still think I have conditions that are undiagnosed, although that could be in my head. It wouldn't be the first time it has tried to convince me of things being wrong with me. It has also told me to be myself up at times, and I mean for real. I can sometimes poke fun at myself as I do try to find a light in a dark world. Anyway, that's my hello and good wishes to all.

Hi everyone, happy to be here. I'm a mental health peer advocate, (lived experience with anxiety and depression) I've been studying mental health issues as it relates to entrepreneurs for a couple of years and just wrote a book about what I discovered as it pertains to women in business. The book is called "Success To Die For" I used to work in the youth behavioral health field before becoming self-employed and pursing my writing dreams. Between good books and good music, I'm good to go. Looking forward to connecting with you.
Aloha and Welcome to all those who joined recently! My apologizes for not making it personal. I am guilty of being lazy. Be well.🇺🇸🙏

Hey everyone, my name's Aadesh. I work in a digital marketing agency in Mumbai, India. I found out that I suffer from severe depression and anxiety a few months ago and I have had it for over 7 years. Maybe it took me so long because I could never explain my state of mind or because I lived in fear and denial especially because my family has a history of mental health issues. It's good to come across people who know and understand these things. I hope to be an active part of the discussions here. Thank you. :)
Hello everyone, I'm Holly I'm 29 from UK. My interest in mental health comes from having depression most my life, most of the time i can function ok with it, everynow and then i can't. My boyfriend committed suicide two years ago. I have BSc Psychology and currently doing my Masters degree in Mental Health Sciences. I love books surrounding mental illness whether adult or YA. I'm just starting out on Goodreads really, so if you want to add me please feel free.
Hello my name is Stephanie Anne Allen and I am the author of My Mental Madness Memoir. This is a chilling, shocking, interesting, and compelling true story through my struggles with mental illness and how I found the courage, strength, faith, and hope to survive. I have a BA in clinical psychology and am a former case manager and social work technician for the mentally ill. My motto in life is "Spread the love!"My Mental Madness Memoir: The provocative TRUE journey through my struggles with mental illness

Hi I am double new - new to group and Goodreads.A bit shy so just going to get used to it all.
Thanks

Thanks. I just wanted to say I am so glad this forum is here. I would like to tell you that I live in the U.K., I am a wife and mum of two little children and I work full-time in the housing department, helping with homelessness. Other than reading, I like yoga, meditation, gentle exercise and just sort of chilling out really. I am trying my best with mindfulness - and this might deserve a thread of it's own - even though I love mindfulness and value the concept and I have been practicing it, it also makes me sort of angry sometimes. I mean, sometimes I can't reach that mindful place and I get really angry and suddenly think it is such a stupid, patronizing idea!
Stephanie wrote: "Hello my name is Stephanie Anne Allen and I am the author of My Mental Madness Memoir. This is a chilling, shocking, interesting, and compelling true story through my struggles with mental illness ..."Added it to my To Read list!

My boyfriend..."Hi Holly. Nice name! I am new too. What help have you sought, gotten, waiting for? I find that reading about mental health really helps me feel less isolated (when I am unwell) but when I feel OK, I find it hard to even look at those books, I want to feel "normal" - so this is probably that I haven't reconciled with the ill health (or something). So anyway, there is a great book about Depression by Dorothy Rowe. She is considered a genius. I dip into it a lot. She writes in a very unique way. x
Amy wrote: "Holly wrote: "Hello everyone, I'm Holly I'm 29 from UK. I think it depends what kind of book for me, non fiction or self help books I'll only read when I'm struggling, if I can read at all. Sometimes I can't focus at all when depressed, it's hopeless trying to read. I did recently read Hardcore Self Help, Fuck Depression, which was good but i don't go in for self-help books too much, they are a bit hit and miss with me.
Fiction books about mental health I do love. It sounds strange, but I love feeling the emotional impact from a depressing story no matter what mood I'm in. I still read YA even though I'm 30 next year lol.
I will definitely check out Dorothy Rowe, any particular book? X
It's called Depression, The Way Out Of Your Prison. I have read the first half and it reads like she is talking directly to you. I would say her tone is markedly more empathetic than sympathetic. Which I like.Really, whatever soothes the mind is great, it's personal.
Hello, My name is CJ, I am genderfluid and pansexual. I am living bipolar, depression, anxiety, and anorexia. It's nice to meet all of you.

Hi! My name is Quinn and I live with depression and anxiety, the two annoying roommates in my brain who are both too drained to do the dishes but also full of worry and self-loathing to let it be. I enjoy books about history, science, horror, fantasy, and just about anything related to diseases or public health (as is my profession.)
Nice to meet you all!
