Introductions (optional!) :)

I'm new to the group, my name is Alice and I have lived with Anxiety for nearly 4 years. I created my book blog in the new year and joined the GR community and having a really good time being here. I read All The Bright Places a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Here's my book blog if you want to stop on by: https://marriedtobooksreviewsandblog....
I accept friend requests too!

I'll definitely be checking out your book blog, and glad to hear you enjoyed All the Bright Places - do feel free to share your thoughts on it in any of the discussion threads (assuming you can remember it - I would probably have trouble discussing something I'd read a few months ago actually!)
Any questions or suggestions, let me know :)

Thanks Martha! I'll definitely stop on by the All The Bright Places discussion threads :)

My name is Adelaide and I'm 16. My favorite thing in the world to do is to read, but I've been reading a lot less than usual since my last suicide attempt. I've had PTSD for almost three years, major depressive disorder for almost four, and I struggle with generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. I'd really like to get back into reading over the summer and would love any book recommendations anyone would like to give.

I wonder if you may find our recent group read, All the Bright Places, a bit triggering as it deals with suicide as a central theme. A lot of us really enjoyed it, so would recommend it based on that, but don't risk your recovery if you're not up to reading something like that yet.
Some books I've recently read and loved:
Rebecca
Everything, Everything
The Firebird
The Other Me
Station Eleven
Depends what kinds of things you like reading to be honest!
Looking forward to having you in the group, give me a shout if you have any questions or suggestions

If you tell us what kind of books or what genres you like to read, I'd be happy to give you recommendations.

I'm a 33 year old survivor of domestic violence who overcame (well, as much as one can) PTSD and Body Dysmorphia in three years of trauma therapy after leaving my abuser.
I do a lot of advocacy work in the realm of DV and - now - infertility (hello, stress) as my husband and I are trying to conceive but will begin IVF testing/prep work in August.
Glad to find fellow book lovers who are so willing to discuss their own battles. :)

Hey Lindsay, just remembered you're starting your fertility treatment this month - good luck! I know from family members that it can be challenging but obviously we all hope it'll be worth it in the end. Look after yourself and if you want to share how it's going, we'd love to keep updated! xx

I'm 19 years old and been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder with secondary depression and anxiety. I've been sectioned and in hospital voluntarily on numerous occasions and I'm now on a cocktail of antidepressants and antipsychotics. I joined this site after rekindling my love for books after not having the concentration span to finish a single page and when I found this group I thought, why not? Would love to make some friends, come out of my shell and read some good books!

Hi, I'm Kit and I live in the UK with my wife and rescue dog. I don't have any mental health problems but I was a mental health therapist for a number of years, so I may be able to contribute to the group in some way. However, I'm not a therapist in any way now. These days I run a small business and try to get involved in good causes whenever I can, usually in respect of helping animals.

I'm really happy to have found you. I'm excited -- this group is right up my alley. I tend to find myself watching from afar on Goodreads and elsewhere, but I'm at the point where I'd like to engage with people and "talk" -- exchange ideas, thoughts, ups, downs, and of course book thoughts. I think I've started in the right place!
A bit about me: After a car accident and traumatic brain injury, followed by a couple of subsequent concussions in following months, I found myself going downhill. I was in a behavioral health hospital several times and ended up the the diagnoses of bipolar 1 disorder and anxiety disorders (social anxiety was the most troubling). I've been a high school teacher and a counselor, and now I'm a mental health writer. I've written for The Mighty, and I have a weekly anxiety column on HealthyPlace.com.
I'm not here to self-promote. I did see in the introductory information that authors can list their books. I write novels about mental illness, so I just might put them up there.
I'm here because I love books, mental health, and I'm looking forward to meeting people. :)

Currently studying towards a degree in health and social care.
Big book lover but i'm the only one in my circle of friends who reads so i don't have anyone to talk books with.
Always eager to get recommendations for new reading material.

I think it's cool that you've read some of my articles on Anxiety-Schmanxiety! I love that we have a bit of a connecrion already! I'm looking forward to interacting with you and others here!

I told myself I wouldn't let that control me, and since then, I have slowly been trying to pick myself up. I started back at school this fall, pursuing my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and absolutely love it. I think based on my history, it will be a great job for me.
A little bit more about me and who I am, I am a big music geek. My undergrad was in music, so counseling has been a big change for me in school, but I got this! I go on and off of reading a lot, but I'm hoping being on this site will help me to want to read more often. I am a tattoo nut, I currently have 4. I'm working on finishing the most recent one I got, and also working with my tattoo guy to design another one that I will hopefully be getting in the next few months. I'm really big into spirituality and self-awareness, so I try to read a lot on those things. Otherwise, my favorite genre is also my guilty pleasure, YA sci-fi. Speaking of sci-fi, I am a HUGE Whovian. I started watching Doctor Who when I was picking myself back up, so in a way, it's kind of helped to save my life a bit. I even met Matt Smith (Eleven) this October and gave him a huge hug! :)
Um, I can't really think of anything else right now... I'm really excited to see what this group has to offer and look forward to getting to know some more people! :)

I also love music and a tattoos! There's a thread knocking around somewhere about live music - do jump in there and tell us about the music you've seen.
Enjoy the group, get stuck in and feel free to start new threads as well as participate in current ones

I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, and ADHA

thank you!

My name is Faith. I'm an avid, stay up until 2 am, book reader. I'm obsessed with seeing as much of the world as possible. I also have generalized anxiety disorder and depression.
I'm on a journey of overcoming and putting my journey into a book...so wish me luck on that.
I'm here to get recommendations, take part in great discussion, and learn some new things to help me on my journey.
Blessings!

Thanks for letting me join the group.
I am sure this group will have many recommendations. Looking forward to interacting
Tania
