MADISON | 4 comments really want to start six of crows but I don’t want to be confused about the world, characters, etc.

komi ☆ | 1 comments omg really want to read soc duology but i heard a lot of people saying that it's better to read shadow and bone triology first! though i'm not very interested in the triology so i'm also wondering if i can just read soc duology alone

fixitfelix (nikolai’s version) | 11 comments as a die-hard grishaverse fan, I’d say that it would be a lot easier to understand the magic system and the world if you read s&b first, but it’s not necessary! personally i liked soc a lot more than s&b, so if you want to read soc first then go ahead! you might want to revise the magic first tho lol

Isabelle | 5 comments Absolutely not! I read soc before shadow and bone and it was totally fine!

gabby When I first read SOC I was unaware S&B took place before it, and while the duology was understandable I feel like I would have had a better experience reading it if I'd had the background knowledge reading S&B first gives you. But honestly it just comes down to your personal preference and how much you want to read S&B!
