At the end of the book (Bantam Spectra June 1987 rev 1 edition) there is a brief "Afterword" section:
"Memories is a book about truths, both literal and emotional, and, as such, was an intensely personal write. The truth of the little Corsican's life tongue-and-grooved perfectly into my own sense of reality and I strove for accuracy as much as was possible in the story.
The words, with small exceptions, are Napoleon's own words, the activities described all took place during a thirty-year span of the Emperor's life.
