I liked the mystery just as much as the first time I read it. But Sam irritated me this time around. I hate when someone is keeping secrets to protect the other person.
I didn't care for the rational Preston had for murdering his brother and son. It was really hard for me to buy him killing them because they would embarrass his wife. Especially since she treated him like dirt.
I had difficulty dealing with the childish behavior in this story. My biggest problem was Sam, but Freddie surprised me too. Add Preston and his sick mind to the story, it was too much.It is funny that the first time I read this book, it didn't bother me so much. I guess it is my old age. LOL
Part of my frustration is the audio. Jonetta mentioned that they updated the audios with a new narrator. The narrator on the library's copy is the original. She didn't do anything to make Sam less annoying.
Sharon wrote: "It is funny that the first time I read this book, it didn't bother me so much. I guess it is my old age. LOL."Same here, Sharon. I really didn't notice Sam's behavior the first time I read the book. This time it grated on me.
