maya ☆ (is starting uni!) (chicknotcorea) | 149 comments i LOVED "crying in h mart" by michelle zauner (a memoir) and "refusing compulsory sexuality: a black asexual lens on our sex-obsessed culture" by sherronda j. brown (black/queer studies analysis);

absolutely excellent pieces of nonfiction like they were amazing, i gave them both 5 stars, both are on my 'for-the-girlies' shelf (my favs) and i truly believe they deserve nothing less than 5 stars, they are literally so incredible!!

Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi ~ True Crime

Tiny Moons: A Year Eating in Shanghai ~ A Food memoir

Rachael | 71 comments I'm also planning to read more nonfiction.

Here are some I've read this year and enjoyed:
Sensitive: The Power of a Thoughtful Mind in an Overwhelming World - psychology
Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds & Shape Our Futures - biology
I'm Glad My Mom Died - memoir

Here are some I plan to read next year/soon:
The Book of Tea (I love drinking tea)
The Soul of an Octopus - biology / memoir
Crying in H Mart - memoir
The Practice of Not Thinking - philosophy
Pageboy - memoir
A Room of One’s Own - feminism
The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler-Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017 - history

I think it's best to start with Memoirs as they can be easy to read (though some touches on difficult subjects), as compared to scientific and technical non-fictions. I attempted to read A Brief History of Time and found it too difficult and technical.
