Tom Lake by Ann Patchett; 5 stars and Beyond!

That may have just made my top ten for life. I think I will somehow always remember and never forget the experience of Meryl Streep narrating Tom Lake! This experience is one of the reasons we ss dedicated readers (or listeners) read and listen. Its for moments and stories like this that come alive, shape us, and change us forever. I never wanted it to end. The ending, was so perfect, that I felt it deep in my bones. How I loved this book!

This is another book that I will want to read again some day. Every time someone mentions a wonderful ending, I want to pick up the book again, especially if I can’t pull up the details in my memory.

Maybe I’ll spend a couple days reading book endings at the end of the year, as a sort of year end retrospective.

This gives me an idea for a memory project for people with Alzheimer’s or related conditions, My grandmother’s nursing home did a lot with music and pictures. I wonder what more they can do with technology now.

I should start making a note of my favorite chapters in favorite audio books. There will come a time when I won’t be able to focus long enough to read a new book, or even an old favorite. But key chapters might really be enjoyable. I wonder how hard it would be to edit audiobooks.
