Series numbering - sequel or prequel? Kingkiller Chronicle

The Lightning Tree is numbered #0.5, but The Narrow Road Between Desires, which is the same story (just rewritten) is #2.5. The events of this story take place before the framing story of the main series, in which the narrator is telling of events that happened in the past, but this story's events come after the events that are being recounted.

For that matter, The Slow Regard of Silent Things is currently #2.5 but takes place during the events being recounted in book 1 (maybe 2, I don't really know), but definitely took place before the main series's framing event.

So there's that, have fun with whatever the correct numbering sequence per the manual is supposed to be.
