Gabriel Zimmerman | 135 comments Tool is a progressive metal band from Los Angeles,California, consisting of lead singer Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carrey, and bassist Justin Chancellor. Now as much as Tool is my #1 favorite band, to some people,it's just not their cup of tea. This is probably because of their songs being over 8 minutes long and the complexity of some of their lyrics. Nonetheless, the thing I love the most about Tool is their artistic vision and how they have made some of the best music videos of all time. They have a style that is so distinct, that if you turned on the radio and heard a Tool song playing, you would know it's a Tool song. Once the music clicks with you, it's a huge listening experience.

Album ranking.

1: Aenema (1996)

2 Lateralus ( 2001)

3 1000 Days (2006)

4 Undertow ( 1993)

5 Fear Inoculum ( 2019)

6 Opiate ( 1992)

Where do I think you should start: Lateralus. It has their best known song on their, Schism and it has less 10 minute songs than the other albums. But if you want the traditional Tool sound, start with Aenema.

Derek | 1251 comments I always appreciated how the members of Tool refused to discuss the meaning of any song. They usually gave an answer like "it means whatever the listener thinks it means", never limiting the song to any one theme or inner message. They created a bit of mystery around the music that still resonates.

That and they don't really care about being celebrities unlike most bands, which is probably the reason why Maynard is so reclusive.
