I read this book in 2008-2009, I believe it may be a series but I cannot recall. The book is about a girl entering into 6th grade and she had spent the summer away from her best friend. While over the summer her best friend made new friends and became popular. The protagonist spends her day sad about her friend treating her wrong. The popular friend would often prank and make fun of her as well.
This book was definitely a chapter book maybe a max of 150-200 pages as it was a skinnier book made for around 3rd-5th graders.

Hmm, I wish I knew more details! All I remember is the cover was definitely animated. The main characters in the first book ride a bus and the antagonist (ex best friend) isn’t nice to the protagonist at the bus stop right after summer vacation.
