Hoping to start this Thursday or Friday this week!I have my work Christmas party on Friday night so I want to try get as much done beforehand since I'll be gone from early enough in the evening
I'm enjoying it!I wasn't sure how I felt about Chloe at the beginning I won't lie but it's cute so far
Much more lighthearted than The Leopard lol
Yes, MUCH more lighthearted, lol!! I'm about halfway. I like Chloe and Red's teasing back and forth. Fun. I could live without some of the more explicit sexual material. In my book that's a bridge too far - more alluring when it's hinted at rather than spelled out.
I'm just about half way through chap 12 - got a few pages in over my lunch lolI like their banter, and I really love Red & his way of seeing Chloe properly.
I wasn't expecting it to be so explicit! I love romance and read a lot of smut but 100% get you. For me it's a time and place - didn't think this was going to be so in your face with it from the cover/blurb.
I finished this this morning. I really enjoyed how real the interactions were between Chloe and Red. I especially loved that Chloe is a large woman and that she is Black. In America, there is so much emphasis on being thin. And sadly, so much racial hatred. This book was refreshing in its acceptance of love for love's sake. We could use a lot more of that.
Yeah I love that she's just so herself - the pouring coffee into someone's post made me question where the character was going I won't lie.. that was so unnecessary as a reactionVery cute tho and I liked the family, I know the next books are about the other sisters' and I might continue them
I think this will be one and done for me with this author - really just because of the sex. I'm older (closing in on 60) and don't enjoy the explicit stuff. I might've felt differently when I was younger. I think Ms. Hibbert will continue with it because it sells books. I've read an article on romance authors that says a lot of publishers require a certain number of sex scenes before they will consider publication. I don't think that's fair to authors.
Totally get you - explicit romance is 100% personal enjoyment, I usually never rec one unless it's in a romance group. I really didn't think this was going to be so full on but it's also one of those things with covers I'm getting annoyed with. Cover art used to be used to tell the genre but it's getting too confusing to know anything with them lately. Publishers really are pushing hard for "spice" in books - not everything needs to be! Closed door romance can be done so well. I think the books have just been picked up for a screen adaptation - can't remember if it's tv or movie so I could see her releasing more.
I'm really interested in her writing style so I might try something else first before going back to this series
