Sonya’s father Drew and his twin Collin were separated when their mother died in childbirth and their father later committed suicide. Their grandmother Patricia made the decision to have her daughter adopt Collin and put Drew up for adoption by outsiders with no knowledge of his background. Why do you believe she did that:

[Anita]

I want to believe she was aware of the curse and all the deaths that had occurred and that she wanted one of the twins to have a normal life.

[Sharon]

I don't think she was a very good person. One child is hard enough to deal with two, would have put her out too much. I didn't get a sense that she loved either boy.

[Anita]

I agree that Patricia didn't come across as a very sympathetic character, but I can't see why she would keep one twin and adopt out the other. These were not poor people. They had resources to be able to care for and raise both boys.

[Sharon]

I don't think she wanted either child, but was forced to keep one to continue the family name. I hope there is more information in the next book.
